2023 Bridgestone e6 Golf Ball
As far as I’m concerned, Bridgestone makes the best soft feel, easy compression golf ball at an affordable price point. Sure, there’s some subjectivity in that opinion, but the e6 has been a favorite amongst golfers for many many years. The new 2023 Bridgestone e6 golf ball is a two-piece, Surlyn-covered ball that is designed for golfers with moderate swing speeds who seek a soft feel without sacrificing distance. Even better, the e6 comes in at an insane $24.99 that will appeal to golfers of all skill levels.
How Does it Feel?
One thing that I feel is extremely important is that the 2023 Bridgestone e6 doesn’t feel like a marshmallow. Softer golf balls, especially at this price point, are often way too soft for any real precision (OR they’re so clicky it hurts…). But not with the e6. The 2023 e6 ball has a feel that is both soft and satisfying. Its core is designed to compress easily, resulting in a soft, responsive feel off the club face. On shorter shots with less speed, the cover dampens the impact so it’s still soft, but there’s enough presence for full awareness and control.
Off the Tee
Though a softer ball focused on compression, the 2023 Bridgestone e6 still provides plenty of distance for the correct swing speeds. Players with faster swing speeds will likely find the ball to compress too much, but that’s ok. This ball’s not for you. Players with more moderate swing speeds will benefit from the easier compression as this will give them more pop off their woods resulting in more distance than a firmer golf ball. Additionally, the dimple design is more aerodynamic which will also contribute to the distance, but it’ll also make the ball easier to control.
On the Approach
Much like off the tee, the 2023 Bridgestone e6 golf ball’s easy compression benefits the approach shot quite a bit. I’ve found the various players I’ve asked to try this ball have a certain sense of confidence in their irons knowing they’re going to be able to really “pinch” the ball and maximize their shots long irons through short. Additionally, they know they’ll be able to get some spin on the ball so they’ll hold more greens.
Around the Green
I know I already touched on this in the “Feel” section, but low compression balls often get way too mushy on and around the green. What I’ve appreciated about Bridgestone’s low-compression balls over the years is how well they avoid this. They do a great job making the ball have all the soft performance benefits, but still maintain a precision in their response. As expected, the 2023 e6 is no exception. The lower compression makes stopping the ball on the green a breeze for more moderate swing speeds. This is a common struggle for these types of players, so this performance can pay huge dividends.
Sure, the 2023 e6 is a softer putting ball, but like I said, it’s far from a marshmallow. The Surlyn cover provides enough response to dial in your distance control, but it’s still soft enough for a smooth roll of the ball. Again, you’ll be hard pressed to find a $25 golf ball that putts as well as an e6.
Final Thoughts – 2023 Bridgestone e6 Golf Ball
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That rings pretty true for the Bridgestone e6, but that doesn’t mean the ball can’t evolve. The 2023 version continues the legacy of being a tremendous affordable option for players of all skill levels with mortal swing speeds. There’s a reason players have sworn by this ball for so many years and it’s historically the best selling ball in Bridgestone’s lineup. Bridgestone also offers the 2023 e6 in a high-vis yellow if that’s more your speed!
Agreed wholeheartedly. Tried Callaway supersoft and felt the lack of feel and consistency. It’s great for irons especially, i can feel the compression and love the distance. I discovered this ball by accident finding someone’s lost ball and never looked back since although i did try a few others along the way. The E6 is my ball and i have no need for another.
Another good review. This ball was recommended to me by the staff at my local golf discount. Great feel for putting and the spin helps hold the greens. Great ball, great price. Thanks
