PUMA Golf Marks 10 Years of Partnership with Rickie Fowler by Releasing New X Caps
My how time has flown. It seems like just yesterday this rebellious young kid was marching his way down PGA Tour fairways with his bright orange pants, matching orange shoes, and long flowing hair covered by a bright orange flat-bill hat. Turns out, this kid was pretty good too. That kid was none other than young Rick Yutaka Fowler. Rickie’s unique motocross-inspired style would go on to break old trends in the world of golf while leading the way for more youthful style in the next generation of players. One of those key style components was the signature Puma Monoline flat bill. Before you knew it, young kids and grown men alike were popping up at PGA Tour events in the same bright orange Monoline hat as Rickie. Well, the monoline is back for a limited time with the release of the Puma X Caps.
Ten years ago TODAY, Puma signed Rickie Fowler to one of the strongest partnerships in modern golf. Whether you dig Rickie’s style or not, you can’t ague the level of impact Rickie and Puma have had on the modern styles of golf that are so prevalent among today’s players. Before Rickie, no one was playing Tour events in joggers and high tops. Now not only do you see other players wearing similar styles, but you’re seeing the same trends from other apparel companies.
On the tenth anniversary of Rickie Fowler joining the Puma Golf squad, Puma marks the anniversary with the release of two limited edition hats.
X P Cap
The first is the X P cap that is similar to the current hats we’ve seen Rickie wearing with a capital P on the front. This limited hat is available in black with gold accents and a slightly curved brim. (Alright, anti-flat billers?!)
X Monoline Cap
The most exciting hat, however, is the X Monoline cap. This was Rickie’s hat of choice in the early part of his career and arguably the start of a cultural phenomenon. I remember Puma releasing the Monoline flat bills and they’d sell out almost immediately at first. The black and gold Monoline celebrates Rickie’s tenth anniversary while reviving a classic Puma Golf hat for their fans. Sorry, flat bill guys, the X Monoline has a slight curve to its bill.
