The Top Posts of the Year: 2019

2019 Content in Review

There were quite a few interesting trends in our content over 2019.  After reviewing data from the 2019 calendar year, we thought we’d compile a list of some of our top posts whether they were the most viewed, we just really liked the post, or apparently it really caught the attention of the internet at some point.  Without further ado, here are our top posts from 2019.

2019 Review - HZRDUS Smoke Black

Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black Review

This review has without a doubt been our most viewed post basically ever since it went up.  People seem to really want to know more about the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black shaft on a daily basis and hopefully our review has done the trick.

Tour Edge Clubs in DRH Bags

This post from October about how Tour Edge worked their way into the entire DRH team’s bags this year caught a lot of eyes.  Tour Edge has been on a tear these past few years and we think people are curious to learn more about the brand and why the clubs have been buzzing so much lately.  Take it from us, we didn’t just put these clubs in our bags for fun.  They’re really good.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society / TRUE Linkswear Featured

TRUE Linkswear Collaborates with National Multiple Sclerosis Society

When we posted TRUE Linkswear’s announcement of their collaboration with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, we saw a TON of interest in this topic.  The large amount of interest made this easily one of our biggest posts of the year and we were happy to help get eyes on a great cause.  This initiative to raise money for the National MS Society reached a lot of people and some slick TRUEs were an added bonus.  These shoes are still available through TRUE Linkswear here.

Mizuno JPX 919 Forged 4

Mizuno JPX Irons

We actually saw a lot of consistent interest throughout the year across the board for Mizuno’s JPX irons.  The two most viewed JPX reviews were the JPX 919 Forged and the JPX 900 Tour irons.  I like to think a lot of the interest is derived from how successful Brooks Koepka has been the past two seasons with the JPX lineups, but man, that 919 Forged was a real nice club.

Nike Air Max 1 G 2

Nike Air Max 1 G Review

Listen, our “sneakerhead” golf shoe reviews are popular, but the Air Max 1 review has been big this year…and rightfully so.  Nike has released a lot of great colorways and they’re legitimately solid golf shoes too.  These have become staples for me on the course, and I imagine I’m not alone based on this post.  I know I’ve certainly seen quite a few pairs walking around out there.

Srixon Q-Star Tour Ball Review

I’d be lying if I told you I expected this ball to generate the interest it did when we posted it, but I think the wide appeal, quality, and affordable price of the Srixon Q-Start Tour made it very popular amongst the average golfer.  A few of these sleeves from Tommy’s review snuck into my house (ok, my 2 year-old son quite literally stole a few without me realizing it) so I managed to play a couple rounds with them.  They were a real nice ball and it was easy to see why they had so much interest.

Tommy’s review can be found here.

KBS $-Taper 2019 Review

KBS $-Taper Iron Shaft

Not only is this one of my favorite steel shafts, but it’s a popular one on the internet too.  The KBS $-Taper is a very strong performer with great feel, low spin, and a nice mid trajectory.  I think it’s a great “just right” shaft for players that don’t want a piece of rebar, but still want something on the firmer side and a little stronger flight.

Cobra F-Max Superlite Irons Featured

Cobra F-MAX Superlite Irons

I really enjoyed our review of the Cobra F-MAX Superlite irons for a handful of reasons.  1) We got to do the review a little different than we normally would.  These irons fell into an area that’s tough for us to review on our own, so rather than BS our way through a review, we worked with a player better suited for this equipment and saw great results. 2) We get a lot of feedback from readers that they enjoyed the perspective of the review and it was a nice change of pace. 3) I just really like this line from Cobra and think it’s a solid addition to the industry where there are only a few brands doing a good job addressing this area of the market.

Tensei Blue - 2019 Review

Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Blue Shaft

The MCA Tensei AV Blue is a very user-friendly shaft that appeals to a wide range of players in the golf world.  Not everyone swings their woods a million miles an hour with an aggressive transition so the Tensei AV Blue’s smooth profile and mid launch is a good fit for many amateurs looking for some easier carry.

Tommy put together a pretty good review on it here.

Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver - 2019 Review

Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero Driver

The Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero was my gamer driver pretty much as soon as I first hit it.  The Epic Flash drivers were also arguably the most popular drivers of the 2019 season so unsurprisingly, this review got a lot of attention.  A great club that’s going to be tough to beat for Callaway, but I’m sure they’ll surprise me somehow.

My review can be found here.

Final Thoughts

2019 was a lot of fun since we had our feet under us more and had a little momentum.  There was some excellent gear put out as well, but I’m sure 2020 will be as equally as exciting.  As we always say, if there’s something you think people would like to see, reach out and let us know.  OR you can reach out to your favorite brands and tell them you’d love to see them on our site.
