So since this whole thing about Patrick Reed’s lawyer sending ole Brandel Chamblee/Golf Channel a C&D based on Chamblee’s analysis of Patrick Reed shoveling sand behind his ball at last month’s Hero World Challenge popped in my inbox, I haven’t been able to delete it. Golfweek first reported on it here, but I thought, “man, I’m just going to leave this one alone and weigh in.” Yet, in my inbox it has stayed…
Then as I was scrolling through the Twitters, I saw this tweet from friend of the progremme, Adam Unfiltered of Golf Unfiltered:
Oh come on https://t.co/HXMtdGoWkA

Yup, that pretty much sums up my reaction too. It’s a perfectly put response. Listen, at this point, I don’t care about the validity of whether or not Reed cheated, how the PGA Tour should have handled it, whatever. The drama is just another “treat” in the Patrick Reed saga that, frankly, is growing both boring and annoying to me. Let’s simplify it – Reed is just a different bird, he’s surrounded by an interesting group of people, he can golf the ball around pretty well, and has an impressive ability to harness negative energy and turn it into results. It’s just the whole circus constantly surrounding him and the game/media can’t get away from it. It’s starting to feel like it never ends, and it gets more and more bizarre as the years go on.
So that’s it. I’m not even making any hot takes or anything. It’s just like, “you have to be kidding me with this!!!!!” Or as Adam put it, “Oh come on.” That’s all that needs to be said.
Read the whole weird story from Golfweek here if you want. It’s just so bizarre…
