Callaway has officially announced its full MAVRIK lineup for the upcoming 2020 golf season featuring everything from drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and irons.  Buckle up, because we have all the details for the whole range below.

MAVRIK Drivers

Epic Flash set new boundaries by being the first driver developed with the aid of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, which led to it being the #1 selling driver model in 2019. To push performance even further, we adopted a maverick’s rebellious and disruptive attitude. That’s how our world class R&D team created the new MAVRIK line, with the finest combination of distance, forgiveness, consistency and feel we’ve ever built in a driver.

With MAVRIK we invested in a new and more powerful supercomputer, which significantly advanced our understanding of A.I. and Machine Learning. And we discovered how to apply A.I. to make smarter and wider-ranging performance improvements in the face and throughout the clubhead. The incredible innovations in this driver are led by a new Flash Face SS20 architecture, with a thinner face and more expansive area that delivers ultra-fast ball speeds. The supercomputer operated for weeks, through thousands of virtual prototypes, until it arrived with a completely new face architecture, created to specifically work with the head of each MAVRIK driver.

The complexity of each MAVRIK Flash Face SS20 design demanded a stronger material to stand up to the stress of impact, so for the first time we’re using FS2S titanium in a club face, an exotic material that is remarkably strong and light—a full 6 grams lighter than traditional materials. From this high end titanium, we can consistently maintain ball speeds without sacrificing any integrity in the club face.

In addition to all the remarkable new technologies in MAVRIK Drivers, we’ve utilized several proven technologies that are crucial to the overall performance – Jailbreak and a T2C Triaxial Carbon Crown. Jailbreak features two internal bars behind the face that connect the sole and crown to promote faster ball speed. And our T2C triaxial carbon crown is significantly lighter than a titanium crown, allowing our engineers to redistribute additional weight to raise MOI and forgiveness.

Callaway’s R&D team also took maverick thinking well beyond the club face, using A.I. to help tune the acoustics of the head. Specifically, they used A.I. to optimize the internal structure and position of numerous ribs to create an immensely satisfying sound and feel.

MAVRIK Fairway Woods

Like the driver, maverick thinking drove the creation of the new MAVRIK fairway wood. Every club in the line features a unique, A.I.-designed Flash Face to work specifically with the size, shape and CG location of each head, promoting optimum speed and spin. These are the first Callaway fairway woods with faces fully optimized by A.I., and the performance distinctly reflects that.

The Flash Face SS20 is developed for remarkably fast ball speed, and MAVRIK’s speed characteristics are enhanced through a unique forged steel face construction. This exotic material called C300 maraging steel is super strong and resilient at impact, resulting in high ball speeds that extend well across the face.

A.I. also contributed to our enhanced Face Cup, which is engineered to provide speed across the face. And our proven Jailbreak Technology promotes more distance at every impact location by utilizing two internal bars that connect the crown and the sole. Jailbreak stabilizes and stiffens these two parts, allowing the face to work more efficiently.

In addition to all that ball speed, our R&D team used extensive testing to develop a progressive leading-edge geometry for each face. The standard MAVRIK is our fastest fairway wood, with a large and expansive hitting area that we’ve implemented for a high launch with a flat trajectory.

In the Sub Zero model, the tighter leading edge is engineered to create more workability. And in the MAX head, the lowered leading edge provides better performance on shots that are hit lower on the face.

To complete the MAVRIK performance package, we’ve featured interchangeable weighting to fine tune shot shape. The weighting system provides golfers with options to optimize launch angles, spin rates, and bias settings. And every club features high performance shaft options from UST, Project X and Aldila, along with premium Golf Pride grips.

MAVRIK Hybrids

For the first time we’ve used A.I. to create fully optimized hybrid faces. Add our proven Jailbreak and Face Cup technologies and the result is the most technologically advanced hybrid face we’ve ever designed. That’s why MAVRIK is easy to launch, and an absolute distance machine.

As with MAVRIK fairway woods, we used A.I. to develop a different face design for every loft, promoting an optimal combination of speed, launch angle, and spin rate in each one. These are the first Callaway hybrids to feature a fully optimized Flash Face, which is better at delivering fast ball speed across an exceptionally large area.

Contributing to MAVRIK hybrids description as a distance machine is Callaway’s unparalleled Jailbreak technology. These two bars behind the face connect the sole and crown, allowing the face to take on more impact load to promote fast ball speed. Jailbreak’s innovative ability to promote distance provides another key advantage in the production of ball speed.

Each MAVRIK model is designed to offer precisely what golfers want from a hybrid: easy launch, high flight, long carry and soft landing. And they are all equipped with premium shaft and grip components.

MAVRIK Irons

Callaway has been the #1 Irons Brand in Golf for over five years and counting. And we continue to relentlessly develop ball speed technologies that are designed to help golfers hit their irons farther than ever before. We live by a maverick spirit, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and never settling until we’ve established a completely new standard for distance and performance.

Last year we introduced A.I. for the first time, with Flash Face Technology in our Epic Flash Driver. Now we have substantially increased our investment in super computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. All of these meaningful advancements and applications have allowed us to use A.I. for the first time ever in an iron.

MAVRIK Irons feature a new Flash Face Cup with A.I. to create a sophisticated face architecture for every loft, an engineering feat that’s never been seen in the golf industry. By implementing a different Flash Face architecture for each iron, we’ve created a significant boost in ball speed and increased spin robustness off of every club in the set.

Ball speed is further enhanced by our industry-leading 360 Face Cup that flexes and releases at impact on center and off-center hits. Together, they provide a breakthrough in club face construction for long, consistent distance. A.I. and ball speed are what drive MAVRIK, and we’ve meticulously designed these irons for complete performance to match all that distance.

With our Tungsten Energy Core, we’ve precisely positioned custom tungsten weights into each iron to optimize launch and trajectory. This allows us to strengthen the lofts while still maintaining player preferred trajectories, spin rates, and land angles.

We’ve included our proprietary urethane microspheres, our premium technology that creates unmatched feel and incredible speed. Over one million microspheres are strategically placed into each clubhead to absorb unwanted vibration while maximizing COR. With this design, we can provide pure feel and consistent distance performance throughout the set.

A.I. also allows us to enhance the performance characteristics of each iron face. In the long irons, the faces are designed for launch and speed, while in the mid-irons the faces are engineered for speed and spin consistency. And in the short irons, the faces are optimized for spin and precision to promote pinpoint shot-making.

These irons also feature a premium components package that’s suited to all of the ball speed and innovative technologies. With stock shafts from True Temper, Project X, and KBS, along with Golf Pride grips we’ve introduced an incredible new line that represents what maverick thinking is all about.
