Project X Releases Two New Iron Shafts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (July 13, 2020) — Project X® is releasing two new iron shafts, Project X LS (Low Spin) and Project X IO (Individually Optimized), to the public through True Temper Performance Fitting Centers today.

LS and IO are both part of the Next Evolution family of iron shafts from Project X. The Next Evolution family are all designed with a specific player profile and concept in mind.

“Project X LS started as an engineering task to create the lowest spinning iron shaft on the market,” explained Scott Cokeing, senior director of alloy engineering for True Temper and Project X. “The new era of elite level golfers are stronger, more athletic and faster than ever, and because of this, they naturally create more launch and spin, so having a shaft designed specifically with that type of golfer in mind was crucial for our line.”

LS is the first stepless shaft to ever feature multiple taper rates in its design, making for a unique bend profile best suited for players who struggle with spin.

“Project X IO started with the idea that not all golfers need the same thing from a golf shaft,” said DonBrown, vice president of innovation and product creation for Project X. “While the stronger player requires launch and spin reduction to control their ball, many golfers need more launch and spin to help maximize their distances. With Project X IO, you will see as the flex increases, each shaft gets 5g heavier and is geometrically modified to launch lower—providing an individually optimized shaft for each flex.”

IO is ideal for players who love the stability of Project X but need an easier to load shaft profile and are looking for a lighter weight golf shaft.

LS comes in a flex range of 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0 at 120g, 125g and 130g. IO comes in 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 flexesat 105g, 110g and 115g, respectively. Both shafts feature a unique brushed chrome finish that reduces glare and gives each shaft a unique look. LS and IO are both taper tip shafts. MSRP for both shafts is $60 per shaft.
