TRUE linkswear LUX Knit Golf Shoe
“A breathable knit golf shoe that’s fully waterproof? Surely you must be joking.” No, I assure you that I am not. The shoe I’m talking about is the new TRUE linkswear LUX Knit golf shoe. Designed to be breathable, waterproof, and extremely comfortable, TRUE linkswear has introduced what is easily one of their top all-around shoes yet.
The Looks
TRUE linkswear offers the LUX Knit in three different colorways. There’s the black/white combo pictured here, a really slick light grey, and a smooth indigo/brown/white option. The white midsoles are made out of a “superfoam” called Wanderlux which is resistant to wrinkling and staining. This means they’ll stay cleaner and looking crisp longer under the high level of stress golf puts on a shoe.
TRUE linkswear might be the current leaders in terms of looks that best transition from the golf course to any off-course situation. I regularly wear my TL-01 and ECO Knits as my everyday shoes. Well, the LUX Knit is now entering the chat. The stylish, yet modest, black knit upper is befitting of many different environments and social occasions. Anything from jeans to shorts pair well with LUX Knit, and as such, it has become a regular go-to in my rotation.
Comfort Level
Wanderlux foam does more than reduce wrinkling and clean up easier. The Wanderlux foam in the midsole also makes the TRUE linkswear LUX Knit insanely comfortable on your feet. The cushioning is firm enough for good stability and ground feedback, but there’s enough softness for walking a few rounds of golf. Or commutes to and from the office. Additionally, there’s enough comfortable flexibility if you like a range of motion throughout your swing. I definitely wouldn’t classify them as rigid. The overall fit is fairly versatile. I say versatile as it fits comfortably for a narrow/medium width, but can easily fit up to a 2E shoe width.
Don’t even get me started on the LUX Knit’s upper. I’ve become a huge fan of TRUE linkswear’s one-piece sock fit uppers. (Also see our TRUE linkswear OG Feel review.) The LUX Knit’s upper is snug against your foot with a comfortable pressure. Bonded with a DWR (durable water repellent) shell, the knit is extremely breathable and comfortable, but also waterproof keeping your feet dry. Like most waterproof shoes, the waterproof guarantee is for 2 years.
On-Course Performance
I’m going to steal a line from my TRUE linkswear ECO Knit review. At this point I’m comfortable saying that TRUE Linkswear makes the best on-to-off-the-course transition shoes in the business.” Walking around in my everyday life, it’s easy to forget I’m wearing a golf shoe with the LUX Knit. The “aggressive” rubber tread doesn’t slip around in slick conditions like most spikeless shoes do off the course. I’ve quickly worn the LUX Knit regularly off the course as much as I have ON the course.
Admittedly, the LUX Knit will better serve the player that puts a premium on spikeless golf shoes. That said, though a spikeless design, the traction pattern is aggressive and provides more than adequate grip throughout the golf swing whether from the fairway, tee box, rough, or bunker. As I said earlier, the sole provides just enough firmness to support your feet with excellent ground response. You’ll certainly be in tune with your golf swing and feel plenty of connection to the ground. In regards to the “waterproofness”, the LUX Knit has kept my feet dry in damp conditions. Admittedly, I haven’t played them in torrential downpours nor the day after yet, but general moisture has been perfectly fine thus far.
Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear LUX Knit
I really can’t say much more than these shoes are really cool. I legitimately love them and they will continue to stay in regular rotation both on and off the course. Look, given the past few reviews of the brand, I’ve clearly become a strong TRUE linkswear advocate. That said, I’d be the first one to say, “hey, these shoes don’t hold up to the standards that I hold them to.” Well, the LUX Knit shoes are easily one of my favorite TRUE linkswear shoes yet so I’m standing by the brand as much as always. They are so comfortable no matter what purpose I wear them for. If you’re just looking for a spikeless golf shoe that’s breathable, will keep your feet dry, and hold up to an actual golf swing, the LUX Knit is as good as it gets.
