TRUE linkswear LUX Pro Shoe Review

TRUE linkswear LUX Pro Shoe

Though the TRUE linkswear LUX Pro looks like a fairly modest and simply-stated shoe, it’s quietly anything but. A decade of R&D, fully-waterproof design, premium leather, signature “non-traditional” looks, and extreme comfort make the LUX Pro the most premium shoe in the TRUE linkswear lineup. And of course, in true TRUE linkswear fashion, it’s just as good on the course as off the course.

The Looks

I’m hesitant to say the TRUE linkswear LUX Pro looks like a golf shoe, BUT it looks closer to a traditional golf shoe than anything else in their lineup. That said, when I look at the LUX Pro, it by no means screams “golf shoe” in its appearances. Of course, in this modern era of golf where golf shoe style differs more than ever, the general aesthetic is very appropriate for golf on any course at any club. The design is tastefully minimal and practical with clean lines and a streamlined profile. Available in the white/brown combo pictured here and a “Tour black”/white, the LUX Pro will fit many different styles and personalities. Personally, I feel like the LUX Pro perfectly captures a look that blends cool with an easygoing attitude. Two things I really wish I was more of.

Comfort Level

Maybe I’m biased, maybe I’m just on a huge brand kick right now, but I’m not sure anyone in the golf shoe market is making more comfortable shoes than TRUE linkswear. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not to say there aren’t super comfortable shoes from other brands. There certainly are, but TRUE linkswear’s whole lineup is wildly comfortable. With a reputation to maintain, the LUX Pro is as comfortable as I’ve grown to expect from TRUE and I enjoy wearing them.

Much of the LUX Pro’s comfort/fit is just like it’s breezier knit cousin, the LUX Knit. There’s enough comfortable flexibility if you like a range of motion out of your golf shoes. I definitely wouldn’t classify them as rigid. The overall fit is fairly versatile. I say versatile as these shoes fit comfortably for a narrow/medium width, but can easily fit up to a 2E shoe width. Though the shoe is snug against your foot for optimal fit and performance, it’s not a tight snug. Trust me, it makes sense when you have them on your feet. The shoe stays close to your foot for a natural fit and reliability.

Oh, and they weigh next to nothing (11.5 ounces per shoe) so they’re an easy all-day wear. That really goes a long way for a lot of golfers.

On-Course Performance

The first testing I did with the TRUE linkswear LUX Pro was seeing how waterproof they actually were. Here in the Chicago area, we’ve had a something like 3 feet of snow accumulation in the first couple of months of 2021. So while I couldn’t get the LUX Pros out on a course to test, I could certainly wear them to do all of my snow removal. Trekking through copious amount of snow and slush, my feet stayed nice and dry leaving me perfectly confident that they will easily handle the moisture of a golf course.

The traction pattern on the LUX Pro is one that TRUE linkswear has utilized for quite some time now. What I like about the sole is that it feels perfectly normal walking around in everyday life, but has strong grip and traction on the golf course too. )Or when you’re shoveling and snow blowing.) Additionally, the LUX Pro provides good support during the swing for players that prefer a more “mobile” shoe. The Wanderlux foam midsole isn’t just really comfortable, but also gives you good ground response for better balance and control during your swing.

Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear LUX Pro Shoe

I’ve started calling the TRUE linkswear LUX Pro my “formal TRUEs”. The semi-joke being that they definitely have a street-casual look that’s far from formal, but plenty appropriate for a traditional, yet relaxed, look even on the most upscale of golf courses. I like that the LUX Pro gives me a more polished look while still maintaining all of the comfort, feel, and performance I’ve come to love and expect with TRUE linkswear’s shoes. Once our Chicago winter finally goes away and we’re back out on the courses, the TRUE linkswear LUX Pro will definitely be a staple in my shoe rotation.

  1. I was about to pull the trigger on the Lux Pros, then I saw the new Ecco Biom H4s. Has anyone tried both of these shoes and have any feedback?
