Aaron Wise got his first ever PGA Tour win at the 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson last weekend. The former University of Oregon standout won in dominating fashion, winning by three shots. He’s only 21 years old, and he’s the youngest winner since Si Woo Kim won the Player’s last year. Cool stuff.
The bigger story out of the weekend making its rounds on social media, however, is what happened on the 18th green AFTER he won.
Is a check worth $1,386,000 enough to help Aaron Wise forget about getting friend zoned on TV? pic.twitter.com/njoLzXmNlv

Yeesh. That’s awkward. Looks like the poor kid got friend-zone’d in front of millions watching on TV. That hurts.
Now to clear things up here a bit: Wise previously posted this pic on Instagram with his lady, and the caption makes it pretty clear they’re an item. It was also back from July 3rd of 2017.
Wise has since stated the following on the awkward moment:
“Yeah, I been giving her some s— about that. A lot has been made about that. It’s really nothing. Like I was saying, she was just so excited to surprise me. I was kind of ruining the surprise a little bit that she was shocked, and she didn’t even see me go in for the kiss. No hard feelings at all. We love each other a ton and we’re great. It was a funny moment that I think we’ll always be able to look back at, but that’s all it really was.”
Whatever you say Aaron…I’m sure it’s all fine… but to the rest of the world, it sure looks like you got hit hard with the Friend Zone on TV. Nonetheless, congrats on the first win, and I’m sure they’ll be many more to come.
