Indi Golf TT Wedge Review

Indi Golf updates their 2021 wedge line with the new TT wedge. Many people may know Indi from their non-conforming, spin maximizing Stingray series, but they can find a spot in your tournament bag too. The Indi TT wedge gives you a premium club with good options, good looks, and good feel.

The Looks

What I noticed right away about the Indi TT wedge is the “scoopback” tech along the back of the wedge. It’s kind of like there’s a concave perimeter weight look to it, and it feels really cool in your hand. What it’ll do is add some more meat along the edges of the wedge face, and that will effect feel and forgiveness. More about that later! Next, you may notice the brushed satin finish. That’s pretty much a must these days, as I can’t even think of a manufacturer using polished chrome on their wedges. I like the the glare-free look, plus it seems to hold up better and not show as many bag dings along the way.

Address is where it’s at, right? As you set up beside the ball, you need to have the highest confidence in your dart thrower. These wedges look compact, and scream forgiving. The full-face milled grooves give you more control over where you strike the ball too. Another aspect I want to point out, is that the leading edge gets a bit more rounded as you go higher in loft. I think it really improves the versatility too. However, my new favorite aspect of the TT wedge is that they chose a modest amount of logos and badging. I personally think their logo and font choices were top notch. Clean, crisp, modern.

How Does it Feel?

I’ve had a chance to play Indi wedges for awhile – check my review for the Stingray TT Wedge – so I’ve got a true apples to apples comparison here. I think my comment of “solid, muted, pleasant, and you actually notice it all across the face, not just the sweet spot” still applies. While I hover in and around the high single-digits handicap, I feel I’m a pretty solid wedge player. That sweet spot is no stranger for me from 100 yards in. Most of the time.

The Indi TT wedge feels like the whole thing is a sweet spot. In one way of thinking, it’s not the easiest for me to tell if I hit it right on the button, or off towards the toe (my miss). I can’t pick up on that feedback easily. However, I don’t get any noticeable loss of distance, spin, or flight. That’s really the key, right? If your shots are consistently going where you want them to go, I feel that takes priority over the feedback from your strike.

How Does it Sound?

There’s a sound of compression in the Indi TT. Kind of like a sticky sound, but that makes sense because of the maxed out V-Grooves. With 22 grooves and a milled face, there’s a lot of contact being made! I think these glide through the turf very well and leave you with that very satisfying divot sound. Again, these are wedges, we don’t need 100-decibel Nike Sasquatch sounds in this part of the bag.

On-Course Performance

Being a picky wedge player, I’ve put the Indi Golf TT Wedge through a lot of competitions to get in the bag. For me, it’s important to have the right shaft and an overall nice balanced feel. Let me note that they chose the True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 and a tacky new Lamkin Crossline 360 grip for these wedges. Both are among my personal favorites and feel great while offering the low-ish, penetrating flight that I like.

I’ve been a big fan of the two grind offerings here too. For the 54° wedge, we went with the FLX grind. It’s the ideal blend for full swings and shallow pickers like me. As I mentioned above, it has a flatter leading edge and 10° of bounce so it offers up plenty of versatility here. For the 58°, we went with the ATK grind. I like this one as it’s a bit more rounded along the heel and toe for the tricky touch shots. This one’s been great out of bunkers so far, and it has been really useful in the dry, packed sand we’ve had this summer.

Final Thoughts – Indi Golf TT Wedge

My take on the Indi TT Wedge is that they’re great feeling, all around performers. I’m a very visual golfer, and I like what I see when I line them up. They come with top end components and A+ build quality, too. They’ve been meticulously tested and offer up plenty of options for you to find your preferred set up.
