I was doing my usual morning golf internet browsing and I stumbled upon a Facebook post from Erin Hills about a guy named Doug Fry.   Doug was recently the president of the Wisconsin State Golf Association and also served on the 2017 U.S. Open Executive Committee.  While these are cool facts about Mr. Fry, the part where his story turns really interesting is that he was so instrumental in the US Open operating cleanly and ended up being nowhere near the grounds during the tournament.  What could cause Doug to miss seeing the fruits of his labor play out last season?  He was deployed to Afghanistan to fly Blackhawk helicopters.  Though Fry wasn’t at the course, he still followed along with all of the TV coverage while overseas.
