Nippon Shaft Wins on LPGA and DP World Tours

CARLSBAD, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, players using Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts won events on the LPGA and DP World (European) Tours.

On the LPGA, the 29-year-old Mississippi native relied on Nippon Shaft’s Ping proprietary model AWT 2.0 steel shafts to win the Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Mississippi State alumna made five straight birdies on the back nine of her final round (holes 12-16) to shoot a final round 66 to get to 22-under par at Kenwood Country Club. She won by 2 and earned $262,500 for her first win of the year.

Meanwhile, at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in Surrey, England, the 35-year-old champion from Ireland played an N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X flex steel shaft in his 3 iron to help him the tournament. He shot 17-under par in the 54-hole event, which was shortened by one round because of the death of the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II. He earned €1.351 million ($1.360M) for the victory in which he shot a final round 65, including a birdie on the last.

“Nippon Shaft congratulates the champions of the BMW PGA Championship and the Kroger Queen City Championship on their victories,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are very proud that both players trusted Nippon Shaft’s steel shafts to help carry them to victory.”

More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour – as well as countless elite amateurs – use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy, and trajectory.
