TRUE linkswear FS-01 Shoe

If there’s a better brand than TRUE linkswear at producing shoes that are just as comfortable off the course as on the course, I haven’t seen them yet. I’m using zero degree of hyperbole in saying that TRUEs have been my daily street shoe and primary golf shoe for years at this point. They’re just so unbelievably comfortable, look good, and genuinely perform great. My newest addition to the rotation is the super versatile TRUE linkswear FS-01 shoe – a minimalist profile appropriate for any occasion on or off the golf course.

The Looks

There are currently six different colorways of the TRUE linkswear FS-01 shoe. Pictured here is the Fog colorway, but you can also get them in a black with white sole option, rich mahogany with white, and three different variations of white. Personally, I’m trying to decide if I’m going with white/soft rose or white/sea foam for my next pair. The minimalist profile cleans up nicely for the office or a nice night out. OR they can also work just as well with a casual pair of shorts or jeans. So far the FS-01 has served me well at the driving range, walking 18 holes, and going out with my wife and friends without so much as missing a step.

It’s worth noting that TRUE linkswear is committed to a more sustainable footprint with their business. They’ve long replaced traditional cardboard shoe boxes with reusable bags for all of their shoes. The FS-01s are the first release I’ve seen from them where they’ve replaced tissue paper wrapping with a small cloth towel (see picture carousel at the end). TRUE also used an Eco-Genuine leather which is made from recycled leather so as to minimize the overhead that comes with producing new leather. This leather is also high quality with high strong scratch resistance, good flexibility, and easy maintenance.

Comfort Level

I feel like from reading the first two sections of this review, you’ve most likely already inferred that the TRUE linkswear FS-01 is a pretty comfortable shoe. Well, that’s accurate. It’s very comfortable in fact. Frankly, the biggest reason TRUE linkswear dominates my shoe rotation is because they are genuinely the most comfortable shoes I’ve worn. The FS-01 utilizes TRUE linkswear’s new “Ultra Plush Insole System”. TRUE says this is their most comfortable footbed yet as it allows the foot to sit directly on the midsole as opposed to over a bed glue and a lasting board that are hard and uncomfortable. So far, I would agree that this is their most comfortable footbed yet.

Worth noting is the Achilles heel pad pictured above. This makes the cuff of the shoe much more comfortable on your ankles – especially over long walks. It also helps lock in your ankle to avoid any excess rubbing or slipping around with activity.

On-Course Performance

So much of a golf shoe’s performance comes down to comfort over long periods of time. As we’ve already covered, the TRUE linkswear FS-01 will be perfectly comfortable over a full day at the golf course. Whether you’re walking or riding, your feet will feel great in these lightweight shoes all day. Lasting comfort is a guarantee with the FS-01.

Traction was my only real concern when I opened the FS-01s. However, TRUE has used a similar pattern in previous models and it provided plenty of grip, so my worries were quickly quelled. The FS-01 had no issues with traction at all. I was able to maintain a strong connection to the ground and perfect balance in a variety of conditions. The support is far from rigid, but it’s not too soft either. I’d say it’s flexible enough while staying solid and close to the foot. Definitely in line with a sneaker golf shoe which is my personal preference on the course.

Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear FS-01

If you catch me walking around this Spring and beyond, there’s a good chance you’ll see the TRUE linkswear FS-01 on my feet. The fit and comfort are just so good, which is what I’ve come to accept as the standard for any TRUE linkswear shoe. I also know the FS-01 is a shoe that’s going to last me. TRUE linkswear claims the FS-01 has “work boot durability” with its scratch resistance, but they’re also water resistant making them ready to handle any situation. And handling any situation is exactly how I plan to put the FS-01 to use. Not only that, but I’ll definitely be adding multiple colorways to my closet very, very soon.
