Tour Edge staff player Bernhard Langer and son Jason won the 26th PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando at Grande Lakes Sunday in grand fashion.
It is the fifth time Langer has won the event, tying the record set by Raymond Floyd. He has now won three times with Jason and twice with son Stefan.
Team Langer entered Sunday three shots back, but the difference was quickly made up for when Team Langer opened with seven birdies in a row.
They shot a final round 59 to win the PNC Championship at 25-under-par.
“The goal was really to have fun,” Bernhard said. “This is a tournament about family and fun. Maybe if we play well, we might be in contention, that would be a bonus. So, it all came together.”
Jason is a former collegiate player at the University of Pennsylvania who is now an investment banker in New York.
“I don’t get to play as much golf anymore, and I don’t get to see my parents and my family quite as much anymore,” said Jason. “To be able to play golf as a family and in a beautiful spot and great competition and play a really good golf course, it’s amazing.
“It’s always nice to have something on my older brother.”
Team Langer took home a prize of $200,000 from the PNC victory.
The win is the 27th win on the PGA Tours for a player with Tour Edge in the bag since 2018.
Tour Edge products have now been in play for 37 victories on the PGA Tours, including 11 wins on the “big” PGA TOUR.
The PNC Championship is open to major and Players Championship winners, from the PGA Tour, LPGA, and PGA Tour Champions. The event first began in 1995 and was called the Father-Son, but has expanded to include parents, daughters, and grandkids.
The winners receive the Willie Park Trophy, which is based upon the prize given in the inaugural 1860 Open Championship – a red leather belt with sterling silver embellishments.
Langer finished No. 5 in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup standings on the PGA TOUR Champions.
He added to his legacy by winning twice on the 2023 Tour, including a historic win at 43rd U.S. Senior Open.
The ageless wonder won twice, had a runner-up finish, and amassed 13 Top 10 finishes, five of those being Top 5’s.
With five wins this season, Tour Edge has now collected 25 victories on the PGA TOUR Champions since the company started working full-time with Champions tour players.
Tour Edge has experienced 4,705 clubs played by over 165 different PGA Tour professionals on the three PGA Tours since the start of the 2018 season.
In that time, the company has earned 142 Top 5 finishes and 306 Top 10 finishes on the PGA tours.
