I’m not going to go super deep into anything Ryder Cup related at this point, but I will say that I saw this picture Ian Poulter posted on his Instagram and got a pretty big smile. Not because I’m an unapologetic Poulter fan (which I am), but because I thought it was a great father-son moment on such a large stage. Now I can’t tell if Poults is just pulling his son Luke’s face that tight, or if Luke is emotional, but it’s a great picture. I choose to believe the latter. With all of the chaos going on around them, Luke’s old enough to appreciate what his dad just did and Ian managed to share this moment with his son regardless of all the magnitude of the event. This is the kind of stuff I eat up in sports. Nevermind the tournament, winners and losers, etc. A great moment caught between a father and a son. I’ll let everyone wrongly keep thinking Poulter’s some pompous jerk that’s a Ryder Cup nightmare, but he’s really a great guy and I Ioved this photo above. Should you know Poulter, the photo should come as no surprise and it really captures who the guy is.
The caption from the photo:
As a parent these moments we get to spend with one another sometimes are few and far between, Luke, but when moments like this come around I was not letting you down today… You lived every shot with us this week. Love you, buddy!
Then this photo of Rory with Poulter’s kid. What a life.
But there’s also this timeless father-son photo.
