Blue Tees Ringer GPS
In today’s super-saturated market with feature-rich golf GPS devices, the Blue Tees Golf Ringer GPS stands out for its user-friendly operation and focus on core functionalities. With 40,000 preloaded courses worldwide, vivid touch screen, and lighter weight, the Ringer makes a strong case against big-name competitors at a much more accessible price.
Out of the Box
Inside the Blue Tees Golf Ringer GPS’s box is the unit itself, a charging cable, and a quick start guide. Oh, and let’s not forget the cleaning cloth and Blue Tees sticker. Setup is as easy as making sure thar the unit is charged up and then powering the device on by pressing down on the “crossed tees” button. The Ringer will automatically pick up a satellite and suggest a nearby course. Select your course and you’re ready to go. This operation typically takes no more than 60 seconds.
There are plenty of settings to work with should you choose to customize your experience with the Ringer GPS. Rather than list them all here, I would strongly suggest reviewing the full manual here.
Features
The Blue Tees Golf Ringer GPS is rich with features to provide essential on-course information and convenient functionality. First, the Ringer comes preloaded with over 40,000 courses worldwide. While I feel like that number is tough to wrap your head around and is tough “to take inventory with”, I have yet to run into any issues pulling up a course since testing this over the past few months. Most importantly, no need for subscriptions for basic distance measuring.
The display is a vivid touchscreen which provides yardages to the front, center, and back of the green. There’s also hazard recognition so you can identify and account for distances of all hazards on the hole. You can also keep score on your Ringer along with some advance stat tracking. Should you want to take full advantage of advance stat tracking, you will need to pay for a Blue Tees Golf membership and utilize the mobile app.
Lastly, the Ringer features a magnet to mount in a convenient location for easy access and is water resistant so it will withstand a light rain without issue.
On-Course Performance
The centerpiece of the Blue Tees Golf Ringer GPS is its bright, easy-to-read touchscreen display. This screen is compliments an easy-to-use interface that’s fairly easy and quick to navigate. Of course, as with anything, when you’re spending too much time with a wide array of features, this can slow things down. (Measuring distances, tracking stats, controlling music, etc… Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, you can use the Ringer to manage your music if you have the app on your phone.)
As far as I experienced, the Ringer’s distances were accurate at all of the courses where I tested it. Obviously, that’s an important feature in a GPS unit. When using the Ringer mounted on the cart, the bright, bold numbers were easy to see and decipher to quickly establish a plan for my next shot so we could stay on the move.
Lastly, battery life was more than sufficient for 18 holes with heavy use, but I can’t fairly say I’ve pushed the Ringer to its limits nor played more than 18 holes with it. I’m sure dialing in brightness and whatnot will help extend battery life as much as possible.
Final Thoughts – Blue Tees Ringer GPS
If you’re seeking a lightweight, user-friendly golf GPS unit, the Blue Tees Golf Ringer is a strong contender. Its straightforward design, preloaded courses, and accurate yardages make it a reliable device on the course. Ultimately, the decision of whether the Blue Tees Ringer is right for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re a golfer who values a simple and effective way to keep track of yardages and navigate the course, the Ringer is definitely worth considering.
