CRESWELL, OR — Jhonattan Vegas used a L.A.B. Golf LINK.1 putter to win his first PGA Tour event in seven years, the 3M Open.
Vegas put LINK.1 in play in late June at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he finished T25. He notched a T20 finish at the John Deere Classic earlier this month that included a second-round 64.
His putting was elite this week at the 3M Open. Vegas was 1st in Putts per GIR and had zero three putts during the event. He gained 4.989 shots on the greens to finish 8th in Strokes Gained: Putting.
Vegas’ winning moment came on the par-5 finishing hole. Standing on the green, Vegas needed a two putt from more than 99 feet to avoid a playoff. He rolled it to a manageable 3-feet 1-inch and made it for birdie to finish 17-under par, one clear of the field.
“We’re so happy for Jhonattan,” said L.A.B. Golf CEO Sam Hahn. “We know he’s been working incredibly hard these last few years to battle back from injuries. Imagine the self belief you need to have to endure all of that and win again after seven years.”
The LINK.1 Custom putter Vegas used to win was 35 inches with a 70 degrees lie angle. The shaft was Accra x L.A.B. Golf (Black) with a L.A.B. Golf “Simple Rubber” putter grip.
