Sacks Parente Series 66 Putter Review

Sacks Parente Series 66

As a long-time golf gear nerd, I’ve become somewhat immune to the allure of shiny new golf equipment. But every once in a while, something truly captivates me, and that’s exactly what happened with the Sacks Parente Series 66 putter.

I first saw it online and was immediately intrigued. Subsequent research revealed the Series 66 to be an interesting approach to a classic putter design. Crafted from five CNC-milled metals, it’s billed as the “most forgiving Anser-style putter ever produced.” This bold claim, coupled with a face-forward center of gravity and a proprietary shaft and grip for an ultra-low balance point, certainly piqued my interest.

The Looks

As I said, the Sacks Parente Series 66 caught my eye the first time I saw it. The lines, multi-material construction, it just looked really clean. Then when I first opened it…it was a stunner. There’s no other way to put it. The overall look screams premium, and you certainly won’t see many like it on the golf course. Obviously, the contrast between the silver neck and flange contrasted by the gold topline is what really catches your eye right away. As unique and modern as the Series 66 looks, it still has classic Anser 2 shaping that sets up in a very familiar way behind the ball.

I’m also really drawn into the milling effect in the cavity. It creates an interesting texture that adds a little more artistic class to the putter. The face also achieves a similar effect through multiple materials and textures in different areas. Toward the toe and heel, the face inserts are a smooth metal while the center insert has horizontal grooves to help with the roll. Surrounding it all is a gold “frame” which has moderately deep fly milling for another type of texture.

Feel 13

How Does it Feel?

In all honesty, it’s sort of difficult to explain how the Sacks Parente Series 66 putter feels. It’s certainly one of the more unique feeling Anser-style blades I’ve ever used. I would say it’s a little more on the clicky side, but there’s a certain level of “absorption” from the multi-material/insert construction. The sweet spot is responsive and clean, but that feedback definitely loses some precision as you deviate from the center. I’ll discuss this a little later, but I feel the Series 66 is fairly forgiving on mishits when it comes to performance, but not so much in sound and feel.

More importantly, regarding feel is the face-forward CG and the ultra-low balance point. In short, there’s more mass toward the face of the putter, which helps in performance but also creates a somewhat more focused “presence” in the putter. Again, it’s hard to explain without feeling it for yourself. It’s almost like the putter head is “leading the way” to the ball rather than you directing it via your stroke. Combine that with the lightweight shaft and grip, and you get your ultra-low balance point. Again, this puts more focus and precision in the putter head, so you have great club head awareness throughout your putting stroke.

How Does it Sound?

Not unlike the feel, the Sacks Parente Series 66 is a little clickier than I expected at impact. The overall volume isn’t loud, but it’s present enough to give a good sense of auditory feedback. When you find the center of the face, it’s still pretty clean. As you deviate from the center, it has a little more vibration in its tone. Not quite “tuning fork buzz,” but a definite note of mishit. To be fair, the sweet spot is fairly generous. It’s also worth noting that if you happen to strike the ball right on the thin gold “milled strips” on the face, the tone gets a bit more solid and “tock” sounding.

On-Course Performance

The idea is that the Sacks Parente Series 66’s face-forward CG, ultra-low balance point, and CNC milling out of five different materials results in a better roll with more forgiveness. In fact, Sacks Parente claims you can miss the sweet spot by up to 1/2″ without experiencing any performance degradation! Now, I can’t say I’m able to scientifically validate that, but I did feel that putts I definitely didn’t strike well seemed to have a clean roll and minimal distance loss. My lag putts were consistent and reliable. Ultimately, the Sacks Parente Series 66 is a unique blade that puts a nice roll on the ball.

Final Thoughts – Sacks Parente Series 66

The Sacks Parente Series 66 is a putter that undeniably commands attention. Its striking design and premium construction set it apart from other putters in its market space. Though the feel is unique, the overall performance on the greens is solid. The face-forward center of gravity and ultra-low balance point contribute to a consistent roll and notable distance control. While the claim of being the “most forgiving Anser-style putter ever produced” might be a stretch, the Series 66 offers a compelling alternative to the traditional blade we’ve all known for decades.
