Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana RB Golf Shaft Review

Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana RB Golf Shaft

Mitsubishi Chemical has brought back the Red Board (RB) profile to the Diamana lineup. We have not seen that in a few years! That goes back to the second gen of the Diamana line. Designed with a softer tip section for a slightly higher launch than its Blue and White siblings, the Diamana RB blends modern material technology with the smooth feel that has made Diamana a Tour (and Driving Range Hero) favorite for years.

Looks 1

The Looks

Yeah, you guessed it. Exactly like the White Board and Blue Board, the Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana RB has a nice flat matte black with the iconic flower bands. The main difference is a red “Diamana” logo. Simple and classy, but the line is not going to be eye catching from a distance. Looks great, but I would not have been mad if there were a bit more Red accenting…

Feel 4

How Does it Feel?

This was the big surprise here. I have significantly liked the Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana Red Board more than the Blue or White. I’m typically a high spin, medium flight player. The low/low, or low/mid often works best for me, but I’ve felt a LOT more pop with the Red Board. The expected “smooth” is of course still there. I’d say all three are pretty stable in the butt section – potentially the DIALED fiber – but this one feels to me like there’s more energy firing into the golf ball. Same ingredients – different recipe than its siblings.

I got a boost here. Better numbers, more speed. Cannot be mad with that. The name of the game is easy launch, but maintaining control. That’s what Mitsubishi Chemical set out to do. And yes, this one is your classic Red Board. If you smooth it with a nice, accelerating swing, you’re going to get everything out of this shaft. I am a “smoother” and I certainly got the benefits from it. Perhaps I should embrace my incoming old age and go all in on shafts that fit me rather than me trying to fit a shaft? HARD SELL, ha, but we’ll see…

On the other hand, if I get too aggressive, My results started to get squirrely. The good thing is that I rarely get distance killing, super spin, drop out of the sky balls. However I will see the left or right curvature at the tail of drives. I’d probably prefer a push or a pull rather than a slice or hook, but the added distance on a good one makes it worth it.

Final Thoughts – Mitsubishi Chemical Diamana RB Golf Shaft

Mitsubishi Chemical has done an excellent job rejuvenating the Diamana family with modern materials and tech. It lets players of any swing type find a fit in a classic profile. The Diamana RB delivers a smooth, easy launch with enough stability to handle (the mostly) aggressive swings. If you’re looking for a premium high-launching shaft that doesn’t skimp on control, the Diamana RB is definitely worth testing.
