When J.J. Spaun steps onto the first tee at the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York, he’ll be rocking exclusive PUMA footwear for the bi-annual event. PUMA Golf worked directly with Spaun to design three exclusive pairs of IGNITE ELEVATE Tour shoes that celebrate both his Team USA pride and his unique bi-coastal story.
A Personal Red, White, and Blue
Spaun wanted more than a simple patriotic theme. Each shoe tells a piece of his journey.

California left shoe – Ocean-blue accents, a California state bear clutching a surfboard on the tongue, and stars pulled from the Los Angeles city seal on the heel.

New York right shoe – Red accents inspired by the “Big Apple,” a Statue of Liberty torch on the tongue, and bold red-and-white heel stripes honoring the host city.
Inside, the sockliner carries a silhouette of Spaun draining the putt that won him the U.S. Open, while the soles repeat a favorite Confucius quote. His family’s initials are worked in throughout the design, adding an unmistakable personal touch.
Three Distinct Versions
PUMA Golf’s team, led by footwear director Shaun Koutahi, produced three variations:

Gradient logos – Blue on the left shoe, red-to-yellow on the right.

Color-blocked saddles and heel clips – Left side blue/white, right side red/white.

Back-painted heel clips – Metallic gold PUMA logos with bear and torch icons on the tongues.
Each version mirrors Spaun’s West-Coast-meets-East-Coast concept while keeping the IGNITE ELEVATE Tour’s performance features intact.
Debuting on Golf’s Biggest Stage
Spaun will showcase the custom kicks when Team USA takes on Europe starting Friday, September 26. Each pair highlights his West-Coast-meets-East-Coast journey while delivering the same high-performance features of PUMA’s IGNITE ELEVATE Tour line – perfectly matching the energy of Ryder Cup week.
