Golf Pride continues to take giant leaps in grip innovation with their new Tour SNSR Contour Pro Putter Grip. While Golf Pride has experienced huge successes in their MCC, ALIGN, and Plus4 lines for standard clubs, they’ve not forgotten about your flat stick. This year marked the release of the SNSR Contour Pro, a more subtle pistol shaped grip with what they call “revolutionary feel.” I’m not one to argue. Here are my thoughts on why…
The Looks
The Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour Pro has a classic look with some modern flair to it. If you’re expecting a ton of eye-catching neon colors or a logo with your favorite college team on it, you won’t find it here. The Tour SNSR Contour Pro features a sharp black and grey body with the right amount of bold yellow. My quick opinion – I tend to prefer this to the red/black Tour SNSR Contour and the blue/black Tour SNSR Straight. Just my deal.
If you really want a solid black color grip, you’re going to do just fine with Golf Pride’s Tour Tradition or Tour Classic (the grip I’ve got about ten years of golfing in…) The Tour SNSR Contour Pro should give most of us the perfect amount of flashiness for our gamer putter. No doubt one of the geniuses in marketing over there made it just bold and distinctive enough for people to take notice when they see their favorite Golf Pride-usin’ PGA pro or some random player on the range.
How Does it Feel?
One thing about Golf Pride as a company – they make a wide variety of products that can fit every player and every preference. The Tour SNSR line and the Contour Pro are no different. I consider putting the strength of my game. On days I can’t hit it anywhere I aim, I’m reasonably confident I can salvage a par or bogey with my trusty putter. Saying that – I’m hard to please and not one to change putters OR grips.
Well, I ended up gaming the Tour SNSR Contour Pro this year. What I like is that you can choose from two sizes – the 104cc and the 140cc. I went 104cc, as the bigger and heavier choice is just a bit too big of a leap for me. I absolutely love the “grippy-yet-soft” feel of it (thanks to Golf Pride’s SNSR rubber blend), as I’ve never done well with firm grips or super smooth ones. This gave me the right amount of texture for my choosy hands. The larger flat front of the paddle also helps me set my thumbs and align properly.
Another thing I like about the Tour SNSR Contour Pro is that they gave a version that had a little more subtle “pistol” than the previous Contour model. I’ve learned it is a must have for me. Going further with that thought, I did not do well with the Tour SNSR Straight. But that’s ok! This is a well thought out product line that gives you options that can fit any stroke.
On-Course Performance
So far, the Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour Pro has delivered the most important thing in all of putting for me. What do I think that is? Let me explain…
Sure, your putter grip needs to fit your hands properly. It needs to help you align the putter face well. It can’t be so slick you drop the club or have it wiggle around either. The biggest thing is trust. If you know – like really know – that your grip will be the extension from your hands that allows you to get that ball in the hole – well that means the world. If your putter grip can give you even the slightest boost in confidence, then that makes your golf game much more fun. That’s what I get out of Golf Pride’s Tour SNSR Contour Pro putter grip.
Final Thoughts
Golf Pride’s new Tour SNSR Contour Pro putter grip is a welcome addition to an already strong and diverse product line. It combines great looks, modern, durable materials with a functional design that will fit a lot of golfers. Once you select the proper size, you’ll drain more putts because your confidence with the putter will be sky high!
