Well, my loves, it’s Valentine’s Day. The most romantic day of the year (and arguably the second best “holiday” candy selection of the year – Easter has the best candy). It’s a day where you’re supposed to make sure the one you love feels special and knows how much you care for them. If there’s one thing I know about golfers, it’s that they are some of the most romantic people you’ll find. Just read the definitions of romance:
- a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.
- a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life.
I can already feel all the significant others reading that definition and going, “nope that’s not my golfer…” Well, I regret to inform you, it’s because your golfer has another true love. Below is an open letter on behalf of golfers everywhere to the “other” love of their life.
The Letter
To my dearest love,
Putting into words how I feel about you is a challenge. It’s a challenge because I can’t possibly find enough words to truly tell you how much you mean to me and how much fuller my life is because of you. Every time I lay eyes on you, I struggle to contain my emotions imagining and anticipating what’s next in our lives together. Every time I get to hold you, I can feel my heart beating faster knowing you’re always there for me. No matter how much I don’t deserve you, live up to you, or come through for you in the clutch, you’re still always there when I reach for you.
From the very beginning of our relationship, I knew we would have amazing adventures together. It felt like we could go anywhere in the world together and have once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I’ve only been able to dream of throughout my life. You can’t imagine how much these times have meant to me, and I’m so excited to see what else the future has in store for us.
So on this Valentine’s Day, please know that I love you so much. You’re the best golf clubs I’ve ever had, and will probably replace you next season when the newest technology comes out, but for now, you are the love of my life.
Love,
Big Golf Guy
Make sure you tell your golf clubs how much you love them today and do something nice for them. Maybe give them some fresh grips, or at least a nice cleaning. Most importantly, hold them close. That said, if you’re not single…you might want to keep quiet about how passionate you feel about your clubs and do something nice for your significant other for putting up with your terrible golf habit.
Happy Valentine’s Day, my dears. I love you.
