Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour Shaft
Following the success of Breakthrough Golf Technology’s original Brava wood shaft, the brand has introduced the Brava Tour, a shaft specifically designed for powerful golfers seeking enhanced swing stability. Targeting players with faster swing speeds, the Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour aims for improved control and accuracy. The shaft’s added weight is intended to foster a more consistent swing, generating increased momentum and ultimately, greater speed. And greater speed means more distance, which is something we’re all happy to achieve.
The Looks
In my opinion, the Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour shaft has a cleaner look than the standard model. The absence of excessive branding or bright contrasting colors is much more appealing to my eye. While aesthetics are subjective, the Brava Tour’s understated appearance is likely to resonate with golfers who appreciate a blend of modesty and flair. A black upper section blends into a copper lower section right around the middle of the shaft. The only negative critique I have is that I wouldn’t mind the “Breakthrough Golf Technology” wording being absent from the non-label side. This would create a much cleaner look at address when installed with the label down.
How Does It Feel?
There are a few things to break down when it comes to the Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour’s feel. First, the big difference between the Tour and standard model is that the Tour is ten grams heavier at each flex. So in this case, the F4 (stiff) Brava Tour is around 65 grams while the regular Brava at F4 is around 55 grams. This makes the shaft have a little more presence for better club awareness with a faster swing speed. Personally, too little weight is often a major deal breaker for me as I struggle to maintain club awareness, so my swing gets really bad and out of sync. The right weight to flex ratio is very helpful for me.
Second is the stiffer tip section. This makes the shaft feel easier to control and more accurate. I felt the kick point to be higher up the shaft so the tip felt more “contained” in my swing. (If that makes sense.) Add in an overall low torque design and the Brava Tour has a more stable feel than its standard counterpart.
On-Course Performance
Club Speed | Ball Speed | Launch Angle | Spin | Carry (Yds) | Total (Yds) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
112.5 | 168.8 | 13º | 2362 | 279.6 | 304.3 |
The idea is that the Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour is more stable because because of the added weight. To be fair, the “added weight” is really relative to the standard Brava’s weight to flex ratio. Other brands have their own ratios that work for their designs. The real point is that a player with a faster, more aggressive swing will typically benefit from some extra weight and that is exactly who this shaft is built for. I found that the Brava Tour did exactly as advertised in regards to spin and accuracy. My dispersion was fairly tight and consistent making the Brava Tour plenty reliable.
One area I’m not totally sold on is that the Brava Tour is inherently low launching. That doesn’t mean it’s high launching, but I found the Brava Tour to be consistently in the medium range when it came to launch. That said, it was plenty easy to flight the ball lower and hit a bullet when needed. The stock shot was piercing and had a powerful trajectory. If you’re really looking to bring the launch angle down a bit more, you can always work with your fitter to tip trim accordingly.
Final Thoughts – Breakthrough Golf Technology Brava Tour Shaft
The Brava Tour is Breakthrough Golf Technology’s shaft option for golfers with higher swing speeds seeking to optimize their driver performance. Designed for players with faster swing speeds, the shaft’s increased weight is intended to enhance stability and control. While the added weight and stiffer profile may appeal to those seeking a more substantial feel and lower spin, it’s essential to consider your individual swing characteristics. As always, I highly recommend testing and fitting to make sure you’re optimizing your equipment!
