Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour
The Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour putter shaft is a high-performance shaft designed to provide more stability and a consistent putting stroke. BGT used a premium Toray graphite which reduces torque to help keep the putter face square at impact. This ultra-stiff profile aims to provide more control and feedback for more confidence on the putting greens.
The Looks
The Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour shaft has a traditional tour taper design and a clean blackout finish. Don’t let the blackout profile fool you, however. There are a lot of interesting textures and attention to detail. First, the upper half of the shaft features a glossy black finish with raised matte-black lettering for branding. The lower half of the shaft is all matte black save for a white “One” graphic denoting the model. One thing I appreciate and I’d like to point out is how the different finishes of each half of the shaft are a nice nod to BGT’s original multi-material shafts. It’s subtle, but a well executed visual addition.
I also want to point out that the Stability One Tour is indeed a bit larger than a traditional steel shaft, but not by that much. If the previous multi-material versions were visually too large, you’ll find the Stability One to be much more appealing.
How Does it Feel?
Feel is easily the quickest “make or break” with all of these modern graphite putter shafts taking the market by storm. With these rigid and low torque designs, the shaft can get dead and boardy real quick. The Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour shaft has a responsive, yet firm feel. It’s certainly not as “whippy” as your standard steel shaft, but it still provides enough feedback to let you know where you hit the ball. Add in the extra stability and directional control becomes quite a bit easier.
Balance is also a key factor of the Stability One Tour. With modern putter heads being so heavy, this is very important. The weight distribution in the shaft is more precise and helps with maintaining control. Coming in at 115 grams, the Stability One Tour has a definite presence, but isn’t so heavy that it’s difficult to swing.
On-Course Performance
I’ve used a graphite putter shaft pretty much ever since they burst back onto the scene a few years ago. With the better feel and control mentioned above, my putting performance is better. Simple as that. I was able to consistently hit my targets and easily dial in my distances with the Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour. When it comes to putting, consistency and reliability certainly make the game a lot easier. And less stressful. My rolls were were tight and I had confidence that the ball was going to go where I intended to hit it.
Final Thoughts – Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour
I firmly believe that not all rigid/firm/low-torque putter shafts are created equal. There are some really good ones out there, and then there are plenty that are just glorified wraps of tons and tons of sheets of graphite to make a telephone pole for your putter. The Breakthrough Golf Technology Stability One Tour putter shaft is certainly one of the good ones. I’ll even go so far as to say that I like it the best out of all the BGT putter shafts. A strong combination of feel, performance, and looks certainly make it worth considering. Of course, we all have different hands so I always recommend getting fit and testing the gear for yourself to see if the Stability One Tour is the right fit for you.
How would you rank this shaft in comparison to the kbs? Thank you.
Assuming you mean the graphite KBS. In short, I feel like they’re fairly similar but the KBS has a little more “life” to it while the BGT feels a bit more “robust”.
Hope that helps.
How do we know the toque is 1 degree other than the company just saying it is
I can only go off of what they say and how it feels in my hand. Unfortunately I don’t have the equipment nor access to it for scientific measurements of it!
