Clinch Tactile Golf Glove Review

Clinch Tactile Golf Glove

Golf gloves have been one of the more fascinating corners of the golf market for me in recent years. It seems like new boutique (yes, boutique) brands have been popping up like crazy with everything from whacky designs and patterns, vibrant colors, “new” technology, and/or “more affordable prices for more golf glove” compared to the big brands. In some cases you might even find gloves that are far more expensive based on claims of being more premium. Personally, I’ve even found many of them to either be a rip off or wildly disappointing. None of them have ever really impressed me long term. That is, until I stumbled into the Clinch Tactile golf glove.

You Have My Attention…

When I first learned about Clinch Golf, I was told that one of their founders had experience with innovative fabrics via previous lives at Nike and Burton. Now follow me here… This caught my attention because of an old anecdote I learned during my hockey days. Back in the day, Nike bought Bauer hockey and made a big push to dominate the hockey world, but was never really able to get where they wanted to go. They would eventually exit and sell the brands they had purchased. BUT after the fact, Bauer talked about how Nike’s access to advanced R&D and high-tech materials allowed them to take strides they never would have been able to before.

“What the heck does that have to do with a golf glove, Bill?” Well, it immediately made me think, “this guy knows how to play this game” in regards to differentiating a product with different materials and approaches to set something apart. That’s exactly what they did with the Clinch Tactile golf glove. By using more modern materials, Clinch was able to develop a glove that will be reliable in any situation, wet or dry, and will last longer. Oh, and since it’s a modern glove, it’ll also work with your cell phone! So far, I’m hooked.

The Looks

Clinch Golf currently offers the Tactile glove in three different colors. All three feature a greyish/white base made out of their “CrushGroove” fabric. The “bottom” three fingers feature a breathable stretchy material that comes in either white, black, or blue. My personal favorite is the white glove, but the blue adds a nice dash of character for the days you feel like standing out a bit more. The velcro closure features the brand’s icon which has a fitting “Pacific Northwest” vibe to it.

Possibly most important to “the looks” is that the Tactile glove will retain its appearance much longer than your traditional leather glove. We’ve all had that nice premium glove that stretches over time and doesn’t “rebound” once it gets to that point. We’ve all also had our beautiful expensive Pittards leather gloves turn into crispy crinkled hand covers after retaining too much moisture from sweat or a rainy day. With my Clinch Tactile gloves, they still look as good as new after repeated use and really being put through their paces.

Comfort & Fit

I have total confidence in saying this – the Clinch Tactile golf glove is by far the most comfortable glove I’ve ever worn. On warm days, the fabric breathes really well and doesn’t get “clammy”. This will be even nicer when we hit the real hot season so I want have to rotate through multiple gloves in one round as they all become overly saturated. In fact, the Clinch Tactile glove’s CrushGroove fabric will only improve your grip as it gets more wet.

In terms of fit, I feel like Clinch is pretty true to size. The good news is that the fabrics have some stretch to them if necessary. They’ll stretch to fit your hand without having a “squeeze” feeling to them. Due to the rebound and durability of these fabrics, the Tactile glove will also maintain the same fit for the whole lifespan of the glove.

On-Course Performance

The Clinch Tactile glove delivers on every promise it makes. As someone who tends to be easily “grip challenged” (a major reason for my use of a cord grip), I need a reliable glove that will reduce remove any club slip. I find premium leather gloves do a great job when they’re fresh, but are a little too slick for me once they start to lose their “tackiness”. With the Clinch Tactile glove, however, there was absolutely zero slippage and I felt totally in control of the club at all times. Even when I poured a bunch of water on the glove to really test its “moisture control”. I didn’t notice any loss of grip whatsoever. Admittedly, I don’t have a ton of miles on the glove, but it feels and performs the same now as it did fresh out of the bag.

Final Thoughts – Clinch Tactile Golf Glove

As of writing this review, I’m fairly confident that the Clinch Tactile is my new golf glove moving forward. It’s super comfortable, performs great, and is holding up really well so far. At $25 per glove, I find it to be a better match for me than the usual premium suspects at similar (or higher) price points. My experience with other brands that advertise “premium-grade leather gloves at more affordable prices” has often been disappointing, especially when it comes to durability. So if a Clinch glove can last me for a whole season at $25, that’s an incredible value in my opinion. I guess we’ll find out how well Clinch delivers in 2023 and if they’re really as great as they seem so far!

  1. Right hand gloves are available on-line with free delivery. Now that’s a deal.

  2. Not true, here in Canada right hand versions are available for us lefties.

  3. These gloves are every bit as good (if not better) that gloves which cost two or three times the price. They are true to fit (almost always…I’ve been using these for 3 years now during the spring and summer I play 3-4 times per week) and they are an especially great option, and value, for those of us who “sweat” a little more than the average golfer. At roughly $6.00 per glove…you can afford to change gloves every 3 or so and then after 2-3 golf round cycles…trash them and start fresh. Definitely a 5-star purchase.

  4. You know, this review is spot on. I’ve used these in the past and actually just received my LEFTY 4 pack today! (Surprised they were in stock). Not the best, but surely not the worst. $6 for a leather glove that does everything I expect it to? I’ll take that deal anytime.

I’m considering a class action lawsuit against Costco for their consistent discrimination and exclusion of us left handed golfers. JK but come on it’s 2021 ?‍♂️

    • Not a fan of the golf balls. Received them as a Christmas gift. The gloves on the other hand ( no pun intended) are very durable and worth the money. I golf twice a week and hit the range on days I don’t golf. I get about 20 rounds of that per glove.

    • You would think with the buzz they’ve created, the demand would be there at least enough that their margin is still worth doing it. Especially with the gloves. At the very least, from a marketing perspective.

I THINK they started making the putter in lefty, no?
