The Driving Range Heroes Story

Driving Range Heroes Story

Driving Range Heroes is made up of lifelong golf guys that appreciate the love/hate relationship of this silly and addicting game better than anyone.  After growing up and having less time for the course, Tommy O’Connell and Bill Bush decided to start a new Golf Lifestyle website based on their experience in the chaotic world of the internet golf industry.  Shortly after the pieces started coming together, their good friend and golf course fanatic/extraordinaire, Jon Heise, came on board.

With said less time to spend on the course, the new DRH team listened to a handful of opportunities to partner up and launch a new site with a slightly different focus than their previous stops.  The team wanted to bring a lighthearted and entertaining take not only on golf equipment and courses, but also the lifestyle aspect of the game and how it’s changed in the modern era.

Bill on Driving Range Heroes:

We don’t want to take ourselves too seriously and we’ve really enjoyed the laid-back and fun vibe that’s been coming through lately in the world of golf. We see all these sick brands coming out of the Pacific Northwest and we want to create a site, blog, or whatever else that captures that laid-back spirit. Mostly, we want it to be a fun loose place where people can come relax, maybe laugh a little bit, and get a variety of golf info with integrity all at the same time.  If the perspective is a little bit different than everywhere else you go on the internet, even better.  One thing we know for sure, we’ll be honest with our takes and we’ll try to have fun doing it.

What does the name mean?

Driving Range Heroes is another example of us not taking ourselves too seriously.  We aren’t professional golfers, we never played on Tour, we aren’t going to break every course record.  When I think of a “Driving Range Hero” I think of the person who maybe takes their golf a little too serious, follows all of the latest news from the Tours and in the equipment industry, loves to talk to anyone who will listen on the range, and will beat buckets of balls into the sunset.  That’s what we are (or want to be) and that’s who we want to make this site for.
