I can’t get enough of this story! Kuchar and El Tucan are going down in golf infamy and I love every minute of it. Like I said in this post, I thought it would sort of disappear until next season at Mayakoba, but here we are on Friday with breaking news. Matt Kuchar is paying El Tucan!
First off, on behalf of Golf Media, thanks a million for issuing the statement as a photo. Made our lives for a quick turnaround EXTRA easy.
I want to hear how the call goes with David Ortiz aka El Tucan so bad, even if it’s none of my business. I also can’t help but question how genuine this all is and whether or not it’s just a big PR stunt because a bunch of sponsors and suits are pissed with Kuch and his agent. Mind you too, this was Kuchar’s first win in four years. That’s a fairly significant drought that seems worth a little more than $5k before the jet takes off in my opinion.
My opinion is, it’s a case of Kuchar’s true colors coming out after years of speculation that he’s this kind of dude. You obviously have to take everything with a grain of salt, but his comments about this guy should just be happy he got a four-figure check (very paraphrased) when he’s used to a $200 day were horrifically cringeworthy – especially in this day and age of bubble gum/positive/golf is for everybody culture (which I’m all in on, btw).
Oh well, at least El Tucan is getting PAID, and I’m happy for him. Hope he’s on another bag next year for the tournament and cleans up again.
What do you think, folks? Have we heard the end of this?
