I’ve honestly not been able to play much golf this year. Yeah, I’ve been to the driving range a lot (it’s in the name…), but I haven’t played many actual rounds. Well, for some reason, my trusty Miura gap wedge has been letting me down. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic golf club and has been amazing for me in the past. But for whatever reason we just aren’t getting along at all this year. Look, it happens and sometimes you just need a break. So as I was in the middle of a round this past week, I realized how much I’ve been digging my 54º Sub 70 JB wedge I have in the bag this year. There are so many things that I love about it. In that same round, I also decided I’ve had enough of my once tried and true gap wedge. It’s not the wedge, it’s me. I know. So of course, there was only one thing to do…
Making the Call
As I’m on my own wonderful journey of a personal mental roller coaster, I knew what had to be done. I grabbed my phone as I drove to my next tee box and texted my guys at Sub 70, “any chance there are any raw 52º JB wedges in stock?” Then the reply: “oh yeah, we just got a bunch of restocks in across the board.” (PS. If you’ve been looking for out of stock gear, head over there asap.) Now, the best part about these guys aside from making great clubs as well as great partners to this site? They’re local, they’re pals, and a quick meetup to get anything taken care of is pretty doable. So about 24 hours later, I was able to grab my new wedge head and was building the solution to all my 100-120 yard woes.
Sub 70 JB Gap Wedge Officially Going in the Bag
With how all my clubs have played for me and how my bag’s shaping up for 2021, I’m pretty confident in this move. The new gap wedge is drying as I type this. I appreciate the support from Sub 70 as always, and look forward to putting this bad boy in action real soon! I can’t say it enough, the gear is really good and is only continuing to get better as the company gains more experience.
Shout out to Jay for the “really important official business” meeting as well this week. A lot of very serious planning and deep working session as always.
