Evnroll Zero Z1 Putter Review

Evnroll Zero Z1 Putter

When it comes to putting, control is everything. The Evnroll Zero Z1 putter’s high MOI FaceForward, Zero torque design aims to accomplish this by eliminating unwanted twisting and rotation during your putting stroke. By minimizing torque, Evnroll claims the Zero Z1 offers unparalleled stability and consistency, allowing golfers to strike the ball with greater accuracy, even on off-center hits. With a unique, mallet-style head, a reverse offset hosel, and the brand’s signature SweetFace groove technology, the Zero Z1 combines innovative design with performance-focused features.

The Looks

The Evnroll Zero Z1 putter has a sleek, modern look, thanks to its 100% milled 6061 aircraft aluminum body, which flows aerodynamically. The large “zero” hole in the middle and parallel white alignment lines make it easy to line up. But the standout feature is the milled 303 stainless reverse-offset hosel—essentially a plumber’s neck inserted backwards into the heel. While this design is unique, it’s also surprisingly comfortable, and I quickly felt at ease standing over the putter. Don’t be afraid to give it a chance!

At the time of writing this review, the Zero Z1 is available in black.Blue and red options on the way. The modest black really appeals to my eye, but the blue and red both look great in pictures. I imagine the red finish will be very popular once the Zero Z1 takes hold in the market!

Once again, Evnroll really gets high marks for the fit and finish of their total package. The putter head itself screams premium quality, and the grip and headcover are just as nice. Going with an Arctic “zero” theme, the Z1 headcover features some penguins on the underside that are the perfect touch. I continue to feel that Evnroll might offer the best stock offering of accessories among premium brands.

How Does it Feel?

Where do I even begin here? So often we talk about toe hang and face balance, especially with mallets, but the Evnroll Zero Z1 putter has a totally different balance point. The balance is actually straight up and down just the same as if you are standing over the putter at address. (See the picture right before the Looks section.) This natural balance point makes the putter feel locked in throughout the putting stroke like it just wants to stay square to its target. Additionally, the “FaceForward” design positions 1/3 of the putter’s weight in the heel and toe, helped by two tungsten weights. This, along with an overall heavier head weight, also goes a long way to help maintain a square putter face.

There’s a little bit of “pop” to the feel at impact with the Zero Z1 when you hit the sweet spot. I’m not sure if that’s characteristic of the aluminum material, or related to the amounts of open space milled out of the body. That said, it doesn’t “jump” in the sense that it’s difficult to control. You’re just able to really feel the ball leaving the face of the club. Should you find yourself missing the center of the face, the feel gets a bit more “vibratory”. Fortunately, the extremely high MOI and Zero torque make returning the face of the putter to its starting position pretty easy.

How Does it Sound?

The Evnroll Zero Z1 produces a distinct sound at impact, which is somewhat expected given its unique shape and aluminum construction. If you’re someone who prefers the deeper, more muted “thud” typically associated with putters made from harder metals like stainless steel, this may not be your ideal choice. However, Evnroll does offer two stainless steel models that also feature the Zero Torque, reverse-offset hosel design. The Zero Z1 has more of a “ting” sound, which complements the lively feel mentioned above. This sound is likely influenced by the body’s design, including the “Zero” hole and the space milled out of the sole, both of which affect the head’s vibration and resulting sound. Additionally, if you miss toward the extreme heel or toe, the tone takes on a more metallic characteristic.

On-Course Performance

Listen, if Evnroll set out to make an insanely easy to roll and forgiving putter, the Zero Z1 definitely delivered. Making a quiet stroke and maintaining a square club face were totally effortless. Controlling the putting stroke was borderline thoughtless and I quickly developed confidence in the consistency of the Zero Z1 putter.

Much of this reliability can be attributed to Evnroll’s SweetFace technology. Evnroll says they achieve “zero ball dispersion” by redirecting the ball “down the target line due to closely spaced variable width channels on the putter face”. Additionally, V-shaped channels of the face grooves transfer energy back into the ball so mishits achieve the same distance as center strikes. In my testing, I found this to be impressively true and the Zero Z1 made for a confident putting experience.

The Evnroll Zero Z1 putter combines innovative design with exceptional performance. Its Zero Torque and FaceForward technologies make it incredibly stable, helping golfers maintain control and strike putts with confidence, even on off-center hits. The mallet-style head, reverse-offset hosel, and the brand’s signature SweetFace groove technology all contribute to a smooth, forgiving putting experience.
