Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop
If you’ve never heard of Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop out of Baltimore, Maryland, you may not be alone since the brand has only existed since August 2018. A brand that started off as more of a fun challenge has quickly turned into an outlet for creativity and spreading casual golf lifestyle worldwide (literally). While the brand is a young passion project, Fade is quickly gaining momentum and has a lot of plans for growth in the future.
The Beginnings
Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop founder, Chris Kurek, has always been a big t-shirt guy. (This is something I can easily relate to, ask my wife.) Going back to his college years, Kurek says he’s always been drawn to cool surf brands and just loved everything about the lifestyle and vibe associated with it. Kurek tells me, “I have NEVER surfed a day in my life! My wife would always make fun of me, telling me that I wore “lie” clothing.” So Kurek decided to live a lie no more and take matters into his own hands! As a passionate golfer, Kurek decided to take that SoCal surf vibe and create his own line of shirts and hats but with a golf twist. The end result was Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop.
Products
As of publishing this post, Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop currently offers a handful of t-shirts and a couple hats. The first wave of these products went so well that Fade Golf is looking to expand their apparel footprint by adding more designs to both areas. Kurek’s goal is for people to see his gear and, though it’s golf themed, still get that SoCal-surf feel he loves so much. I think Fade was successful in that respect. The hats and shirts are relaxed and have a good dash of character without screaming for attention. Your high-strung golf traditionalists in pleated khakis aren’t going to wander out of the Wentworth clubhouse wearing one of these shirts, but the more laid back players that enjoy a more casual lifestyle and a fresh breath of air will love them.
One of my personal favorites is the Fade Wedge Game shirt you can find here. A golfer is going to understand that shirt, but no one else will have any clue, and it’s so simple. It’s a great design. My absolute favorite though is the long sleeve “Death Before Double Bogey” shirt pictured in this post. You will now find this in my regular rotation.
The Future
If you head to the Fade website right now, you’ll notice a “Stuff Coming Soon” section. While the future of Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop definitely includes a bunch of new apparel designs, Kurek is cooking up a lot of ideas that he says fit into the “Stuff” category. While I’m sure you can use your imagination for what types of products you can expect, Chris is leaving us guessing! Additionally, Kurek also has a few ideas up his sleeve that he says fit more into the “Workshop” part of the brand’s name. These items will be “luxury” items that aren’t necessarily expensive, but more limited runs of something unique. As someone that loves their “golf toys,” I’m intrigued to see how this comes together!
Final Thoughts
One thing I’ve noticed over the past few years is that there is a clear demand for off-the-course golf lifestyle brands. They seem to be popping up like crazy, but few seem to have what it takes for the long haul. The challenge seems to be maintaining a deep well of ideas or a high-quality product that will keep the consumer coming back. So far, I have faith in Fade Golf N Stuff Workshop. The shirts we received are great quality and very fairly priced. Let’s not forget the designs are solid, and by all accounts, the next batch of products are going to be just as good. While it’s still very early days for Fade, I look forward to seeing where Chris Kurek’s motivation and passion take him. We’ll be watching closely here at Driving Range Heroes.
