Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black Shaft Review

Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black Shaft

Fujikura has long dominated the golf shaft market, and their Ventus line has achieved immense popularity among golfers of all abilities since its initial launch. The Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black, featuring new VeloCore+ technology, promises to elevate this popular profile with enhanced feel, stability, and performance. Designed for players with aggressive swings, the Black offers a low launch, low spin option within the Ventus family.

The Looks

The Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black boasts a sleek, understated aesthetic. The matte black finish exudes a premium look and feel, while the subtle graphics provide a clean and modern appearance. The shaft’s overall design is visually appealing and should satisfy even the most discerning golfer. While looks may be subjective, the Ventus Black has a modesty and sense of class that should appeal to everyone.

Feel 14

How Does it Feel?

New to the Fujikura Ventus Black? Expect a profile that delivers extreme control and stability. The kick point is positioned higher in the shaft, typical of low launch/spin designs. Ventus shafts are renowned for their control, and the Black is no exception. It’s firmer than the other 2024 Ventus models but far from boardy or “dead” by any means. In fact, it’s remarkably responsive.

Ventus Black veterans will notice an immediate improvement in “usability” for a wider range of players. While previous models offered exceptional feedback and “life” for a low/low shaft well beyond many of their competitors, the 2024 Black surpasses its predecessors. Precise feedback and a satisfying energy release at impact are coupled with a firm tip section for reliable control. Fujikura’s combination of “ultra high modulus Pitch 70 Ton” carbon fiber and VeloCore+ technology delivers exceptional feel in this shaft profile.

Out of the three new Ventus shafts, the Black is the least “optimal” for my game. I readily admit that. However, the consistency and reliability I found in the Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black shaft might be worth the trade-off. It became clear pretty quickly that “I couldn’t take any swings off” in the sense that I had to give it my all to load and release the shaft effectively.

Interestingly, this ended up benefiting my game in the classic “grip it and rip it” tradition. I could literally swing as hard as possible, and the Ventus Black would keep things under control. Left-side trouble was virtually eliminated. I would attribute this largely to the improved consistency delivered by VeloCore+. This enhanced stability makes it easier for golfers to “slot” the club and consistently find the center of the face. That translates to tighter dispersion and more distance, at least in my experience. More importantly, I didn’t feel like I needed a perfect swing to achieve this.

Admittedly, I struggled a bit with higher launch shots. To be fair, that’s more likely a reflection of my game right now and something I could address with practice. My stock shot was a piercing bullet that held its line and rolled out nicely when it hit the ground. If I can find a little more launch at this swing speed with this control, I’ll be in business.

Final Thoughts – Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black Shaft

The Fujikura 2024 Ventus Black is an undeniably powerful low launch, low spin shaft for the golfer that has the game for it. However, for those who have enough power and speed, the rewards are substantial. With its enhanced feel and refined stability, the 2024 Ventus Black offers a level of control and consistency that is truly impressive. While it may not be the ideal fit for every golfer, it’s undoubtedly a potent weapon for those seeking maximum distance and accuracy.

The 2024 Ventus Black’s ability to deliver a penetrating ball flight with tight dispersion is a testament to Fujikura’s engineering evolution since the initial launch of the Ventus lineup. If you’re a player who can really get after it and needs to keep launch and spin down, the 2024 Ventus Black is certainly worth a serious look.
