Nippon Shaft Opens Its First Indoor Testing Center Outside of Chicago

CARLSBAD, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2020) – Nippon Shaft, in partnership with Shaftology Centers, today opened its first comprehensive indoor testing center, where golfers will be able to sample the company’s complete range of N.S.PRO steel and graphite products.

“The purpose of our new testing center is to give golfers the opportunity to test any and all Nippon Shaft products for drivers, fairway clubs, hybrids, irons and wedges – and at no charge,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are excited to be working with our longtime partners at Shaftology to help golfers discover what shafts work best for them so they can get maximum enjoyment out of playing golf.”

The Nippon Shaft Indoor Test Center-Chicago is located at the Shaftology Centers Office, 245 W. Roosevelt Road in suburban West Chicago. Test sessions of between 30 and 60 minutes are available by appointment only. Appointments and more information can be found by calling 630-520-0452.  Comprehensive COVID measures will be in place for golfers’ safety, according to company representatives.

“We created the Test Center so that golfers would have the opportunity to hit and compare the complete Nippon Shaft line from the low-swing-speed ZELOS models to the high-swing-speed MODUS³ models,” said Mark Pekarek, manager of Shaftology and Nippon Shaft representative since 2001. “Even the best club fitting shops are not able to showcase Nippon Shaft’s full inventory of products.”

After golfers test the shafts, they will receive shaft recommendations and installation options that they can take to their preferred retailer or club fitter, Pekarek said. He said the Test Center would have club heads of major manufacturers available to test with the shafts.

This year, Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series of steel shafts has 20 victories on major world tours despite the pandemic that shut down the game for approximately 10 weeks. The MODUS³ model has 222 victories since it debuted in 2010, according to company officials.

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.  Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com.

Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia.  Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer.  Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad, California.
