CARLSBAD, Calif. (March 9, 2020) – Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series won its sixth tournament of the season Sunday when the 28-year-old Englishman battled difficult conditions in the final round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and hung on for his first PGA Tour victory.
The champion played Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 X-flex steel shafts in his irons (4-PW) and shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round to win by a stroke at Bay Hill golf club. He finished at 4-under for the tournament with rounds of 68-69-73-74—284. His victory was worth $1.674 million.
“Nippon Shaft is excited to extend our congratulations to the winner of the Arnold Palmer Invitational,” said Hiro Fukuda, marketing executive for Nippon Shaft. “With his four European Tour victories, his first Ryder Cup appearance in 2018 and now his first victory on the PGA Tour, he is proving himself to be a world-class player.” Two weeks ago, he finished T-6 at the World Golf Championship event in Mexico City.
The pressure on the back nine Sunday continued all the way through the par 4 18th hole, where he hit his windblown 165-yard second shot over a lake to the green and two-putted for a clutch par to seal the victory.
More than 200 players on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour use Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series steel shafts to help gain their desired distance, accuracy and trajectory.
