Details & Quality
There are yardage books you get at the pro shop, then there are PuttView yardage books. Made of high-quality, waterproof paper, PuttView provides a reliable source of course knowledge in a compact format. Measuring 6.5” X 3.75”, PuttView fits perfectly in your back pocket or inside a traditional yardage book cover. Trust me, there is no doubt your playing partners will think you know what you’re doing when you pull one of these out. (Whether you do or don’t is another matter.)
USGA legal, PuttView books are perfect for competitive rounds, events, or just your relaxing weekend 18. If you’ve never used a yardage book before, it can be intimidating. Thanks to PuttView’s incredible attention to detail, all symbols and diagrams are explained simply on the first few pages. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced golfer, you’ll be able to read the books with ease. I was most impressed with the detail and quality of the green complex diagrams. It’s so easy to identify the high and low points of the green with PuttView’s vibrant color printed pages.
On-Course Performance
The PuttView yardage book sounds great in theory, but can it help save you strokes? Yes and no. When used consistently, I found that PuttView can help take trouble out of play with some quick math or with the help of a range finder. As my rounds with the PuttView grew, I found myself making notes on ideal landing spots, false fronts, hazards, and common misses based on the information presented to me. By the 3rd round, I had ample notes and felt confident on club selections. This made me more committed to shots with my newfound course management skills.
Where the PuttView books shine is on approach shots and the green diagrams. The full-color diagrams allowed me to pick between pitches, chips, bump and runs and the occasional flop shot all with the undulation of the greens in mind. Something that a quick read of the green just can’t do. On long putts, I saw a slight benefit in choosing a line, but if you’re like me, putting is all about feel and I try not to overcomplicate the matter. But even with all this data at hand, it depends on how you use it and if you can actually execute the shot.
Final Thoughts – PuttView Yardage Book
Overall, PuttView yardage books offer unique and high-quality books including your local course or your next destination trip, and everything in between. Full color, vibrant print, and water-resistant paper will ensure rain or shine, you’ll know where every bunker or hazard is and all important distances. Hit greens with confidence and choose the right club off the tee for that 1A landing spot all while collecting notes along the way. In an age of GPS watches, rangefinders, and so many gadgets, it’s hard to beat a classic, high-quality yardage book. Not to mention you’ll look like a pro using it!
FWIW, I think a section about pricing/value would be nice. Explain that there are three different prices depending on what info you want. Explain that some courses only have some info (not all courses have green mapping). I didn’t have a sense when reading whether these cost $20 or $200 (much less that there were different levels).
Great review of a unique product, though. Thanks for sharing!
