Revo Crawler Sunglasses
Revo is a legend in the sunglasses game, simple as that. With so many years in the industry, Revo loyalists have seen fan-favorites come and go, but have stuck by the brand because of the quality product. Well, those loyalists can now rejoice. The classic Revo Crawler is back in the lineup as a great all-purpose pair of sunglasses. Whether it’s golfing, fishing, or whatever else, the athletic Crawler is a great high-end activewear option.
The Looks
Generally speaking, the Revo Crawler has a pretty basic frame shape for an active lifestyle. The plastic frame moderately wraps around your eyes to give you comfortable coverage, but doesn’t squeeze around your face. If you’ve had a pair of sunglasses like that, you know exactly what I’m talking about. For color options, the Crawler is offered in Clear Crystal, Matte Tortoise (pictured here), and Matte Black/Tortoise frames with either Graphite, Terra (also pictured here), or Blue Water Serrilium lenses. While style is subjective, the Crawler is a good “one look fits all” for the golf course.
Those with a larger face frame, the Crawler also comes in an “XL” version which is a large frame.
Comfort Level
For such a “simple” pair of sunglasses, Revo implemented a lot of small features in the Crawler to make it comfortable. First and foremost, the Revo Crawler is extremely lightweight, especially given how sturdy the sunglasses are. Sunglasses being lightweight and strong at the same time is a key factor for a pair of golf sunglasses. A small, but important, feature on the Revo Crawler is the use Elastomeric pads. Think of “Elastomeric” as a strong rubber that prevents slippage but is comfortable on your face. This material can be found in the nosepads and at the end of the ear pieces.
General eye comfort is important to consider with sunglasses as well. A good high-quality lens will reduce strain on your eyes caused by intense light. Revo’s Serrilium lenses are great at blocking out harmful light so your eyes are relaxed and you don’t have any unwanted headaches at the end of your round. Keep in mind that the Crawler’s lenses are polarized. I point this out from a comfort perspective because I know some people are sensitive to polarized lenses. If you are in this group, I’d recommend contacting Revo for strong alternative suggestions.
On-Course Performance
There’s nothing worse than a pair of sunglasses that moves around on your head during your swing. Thankfully the design of the Revo Crawler keeps the glasses firmly in place throughout your whole swing. This helps with the process of “not even realizing your wearing them” as your 4-6 hour round goes on. More importantly, your eyes aren’t shifting between different shades of light during the swing. That quick shift between dark/bright while you’re trying to hit a ball on the ground? The absolute worst.
A lot of the performance verdict for the Crawler is going to come down to your preference of lens. Some people don’t mix well with polarized lenses on the golf course so they may be in for a long day. On the other hand, some players very much prefer polarized lenses. I, for one, am indifferent. I like my glasses to make my vision vivid and crisp where different landmarks and features in my view are easy to distinguish. Having tested two pairs now, I feel Revo’s lenses are great at this. I also like the versatility of the Serrilium polarized lenses. The polarized Crawler has been in frequent rotation for me with fishing and long drives as well for these very reasons.
