This review was written by a special guest reviewer – and my wife – Sarah Bush. Given the need for a female golfer to properly review the Royal Albartross Runway, we reached out to her for the opportunity and she gladly obliged. Enjoy her take in the review below.
Royal Albartross Runway Women’s Shoe
To be completely honest my initial impression of the Royal Albartross Runway Rose shoe was “huh?” They look completely unlike any golf shoe I have seen. The “ballet flat” style is more reminiscent of something you might see from Taryn Rose, or even Ted Baker. They look as though they would be perfect for brunch or even a day at the office. But for golf?! Nevertheless, Royal Albartross says they’re a golf shoe so I put them to the test to see how true that was.
The Looks
I definitely appreciate the versatility of the Royal Albartross Runway Rose shoes as you could just as easily wear these off the course as you could on. Heck, I think you could wear these to work and your feet would thank you for it. The Runway line has a very classy/sophisticated vibe to it. I could totally picture myself wearing these on the course with a black skirt and white polo OR even with a pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt off the course. Again super versatile.
Comfort Level
So I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I first wore the Royal Albartross Runway to the range. However, a few steps in I was sold; they are far and beyond more comfortable than any golf shoe I have ever worn. Those who are familiar with ballet flat type shoes will know what I am talking about here – no need to worry about aching arches and toes from trying to keep your shoes on your feet as you walk. Huge credit to Royal Albartross for that achievement. The shoe is both flexible and breathable with plenty of padding for a long (or short) day on your feet. This makes for an easy wear anywhere you take them.
On-Course Performance
Surely a shoe that looks considerably more like a ballet flat couldn’t possibly be a good golf shoe, right? Well Royal Albartross has proven otherwise. True, I don’t swing amazingly hard and my biggest concern is comfort, but I was still able to comfortably golf in the Runway Rose shoes. I was impressed at the level of grip they maintained while pivoting and they do not budge on your feet. As mentioned previously, the Runway is very flexible and comfortably moves with my foot throughout the swing.
Final Thoughts – Royal Albartross Runway
Ok, Royal Albartross, I admit it – the Runway Rose is not only a great shoe for everything “from brunch to work,” but it’s also a more than functional golf shoe. I was able to stay comfortable around the course, but I was also able to wear them around with no one even assuming they were meant for golf. And for any of you men making it this far through this review on women’s shoes, I would consider these shoes a great unexpected gift option for the lovely lady in your life. Bill, in case you forgot I wear a size 8. Oh, and Royal Albartross’s Grace Black is calling my name too 😉
