Introduction
Yeah, we all like to talk about our fancy golf equipment and the latest technology making us better golfers. But one thing every golf nerd covets are all their accessories. Sure, this includes their headcovers and scorecard or yardage book covers, but there’s the unsung hero of the collection – the ball marker. True, a simple quarter will do. Or even the cheap plastic circle you get from your local starter. Remember the poker chip fad? I don’t see those on course too often anymore, thank god. Then there’s the “special ball marker.” These range from collectible coins, course keepsakes, or unique designs from a craftsman. Well, let me introduce you to the new ball markers from Scott Readman Concepts. Scott Readman Concepts ball markers are milled from brass or stainless steel and all finished by hand to give you a truly one-of-a-kind ball marker.
Quality
I’ve gone on and on about Scott Readman Concepts and their quality all over the internet for years. There’s a good reason for that though. This company is so good at making sure anything they produce gets done right and they don’t cut corners. Even something as simple as a little ball marker has the same quality standard. Scott Readman Concepts ball markers stand out from most others in the industry because each disc is individually milled out of a billet of metal. Most people are just stamping circles out of a thin sheet or slicing up a cylindrical billet. These SRC ball markers are milled with perfect precision and the end result is a quality product. Additionally, the hand stamping and finishing is the work of a skilled artisan. Trust me from my own experience, these things are very hard to paint well!
Scott Readman Concepts Ball Markers Options
Your first decision to make is whether or not you want a custom or a Scott Readman Concepts designed ball marker. An SRC marker is £25 and a custom marker is £35 which allows you to have input in material, stamping, paintfill, inserts, finish, etc. I’ve seen the “ball marker drawer” in person. There are many different options which you will be able to work out with Scott.
One of the other options that has been popping up in SRC world is the new “Pearl Jam” inlay. This inlay first started appearing in putter cavities, but is now being used in ball markers as well. There are are a wide range of inlay color options should you choose to go that route, but if you prefer the solid metal look, you’re covered there too.
Keep in mind that all custom options have to physically “work.” The SRC team will work closely with you to make sure your design will actually work out. Any necessary modifications will be agreed upon in advance.
Final Thoughts
Admittedly, carrying a Scott Readman Concepts ball marker in my pocket has a little extra meaning, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of these markers. They are as good as any marker I’ve ever seen, and the seemingly endless custom options are a huge bonus. Furthermore, the prices are extremely reasonable when compared to relevant competitors. Whether you want to add to your collection, or get a great gift, SRC ball markers are a great choice.
