Sunday Golf Loma Bag
All the cool kids are playing golf with partial sets of clubs and trendy carry bags these days. While I love the trend of cool carry bags, I really only use mine for carrying a few clubs to the driving range to get a few swings in. I throw about four clubs in the bags and just lean it on a bag rack for my practice session. Add in the operational changes from the COVID pandemic, my bag and clubs now lay on the ground and frankly, it’s just annoying. Well, I may have ran into the perfect solution: the Sunday Golf Loma bag. The Loma is a tiny bag just big enough to hold a few clubs, some small items, a cold beverage, but it also has a stand.
The Looks
First and foremost, the Loma looks TINY. Coming in at 31″ tall and super narrow, the Loma looks more like a quiver for arrows than a golf bag, but rest assured, it fits a good handful of golf clubs just fine. You might even say it’s reminiscent of the vintage stove pipe bags from the early 1900s. (If you Google ‘vintage stove pipe golf bags, the Loma returns right at the top of the list.) Sunday Golf currently offers the Loma in three different colors: cobalt (pictured here), heather gray, and matte black.
Design & Features
Obviously the main feature of the Sunday Golf Loma is its small and easy-to-manage profile. Like I said, the Loma stands at only 31″ and weighs a whopping 1.95 pounds. (About .9 kg for those on the metric system.) The built-in carry handle is also a nice feature. With the bag being so light and small, it’s sometimes easier to just wield the bag by its practical and comfortable handle.
The key feature for me is the “Dualflex stand system”. On the course, I don’t so much mind laying my bag down while I hit a shot, but I HATE it when I’m practicing. Even though this bag is small, it’s nice being able to lean clubs against the bag and not having to bend over and pick your bag up every time you want to switch clubs. It’s also nice to be able to keep your clubs dry if the ground is the least bit damp.
The standard velour-lined valuables pocket is there. Zippers are all waterproof, there’s an external tee holder, and an insulated pocket for your beverage of choice. There are two sets of loops to clip the strap to depending on which side you like to carry. The unused plastic rings are good for clipping towels, brushes, etc to. There is also a mesh pocket on the spine which is good for a few golf balls or whatever else you need to find a spot for onboard the Loma.
On-Course Performance
My main use for the Sunday Golf Loma has been trips to the driving range…if I haven’t made that clear already. The one area where I think the Loma bag could use some improvement is its balance. With a fully packed bag, and the Loma’s strap setup, the bag tends to be slightly top heavy. This can tend to cause the bag’s balance point to shift while you’re carrying it and lead to the feeling like you’re about to lose some clubs. The minimalist nature of this bag means less stuff in the bag and less weight near the bottom to create the balance point you’re looking for. Just something to keep in mind. This doesn’t bother me from the car to the driving range, but I would like a better “carry balance” for on-course play.
For such a little bag, the Loma’s Dualflex is impressively sturdy and works very well on the course. Like I said earlier, I love having a lightweight, yet sturdy, stand on this bag. It just makes it that much more practical on both the range and the course, and less of a trendy statement. For being so small, I can comfortably fit about eight clubs in the bag. The full-length divider makes it easier to pull and replace clubs.
Final Thoughts – Sunday Golf Loma Bag
I’m just going to come right out and admit it; I had low expectations for this bag. It’s a Sunday bag from a brand I had never heard of. So what? But hey, I’m open minded when it comes to golf and I’m willing to give almost anything a shot. Hand up, I stand corrected. I really like this silly Sunday Golf Loma bag. The Loma is the great quick range session bag I’ve been needing without realizing it, but now I’m pumped to have it.
If you’re looking for a practical bag that’s just big enough to carry a few clubs and the bare necessities, the Loma is a great option and it comes in at a very affordable $115. It’s also a great option for those of you that play par 3 courses. In fact, that’s what Sunday Golf originally designed it for. Regardless of what you use it for, the Loma fits nicely in the trunk of your car and will have you hitting golf balls with a cold beverage at a moment’s notice.
Sorry my eyes aren’t what they used to be so just want you to know I try to zoom your article and it gets overlapped with advertising. Completely annoying and I’ll make suer to NEVER buy any advertised product that rudely overlaps.
I need more context as I don’t see that issue anywhere when I try to recreate it. We also only have two ads.
