TRUE linkswear LUX Sport
Not long ago, we brought you the review of the TRUE linkswear OG Sport shoe which you can read here. Well, I recently took receipt of the new TRUE linkswear LUX Sport which has many features found the in the OG version, but delivers a more comfortable walking experience and athletic feel. Whether playing 18 or walking around town, the LUX Sport is an absolute pleasure to wear.
The Looks
TRUE linkswear’s LUX Sport offers an athletic and casual style that’s different from anything else in the brand’s lineup. I see influences of a certain popular and iconic streetwear sneaker, but with the signature TRUE linkswear touch. This creates an easily adaptable style that fits just as well in any gym or bar as it does on the golf course.
There are three major differences between the LUX Sport and the OG Sport. Both versions have TRUE linkswear’s Adaptive Sport upper which is breathable and waterproof (with a two-year warranty), but the LUX Sport offers two different colorways. There’s a cobblestone colorway (also available on the OG Sport), as well as Pin Hunter green (pictured) and a “concrete” light grey. Lastly, the LUX Sport also has a white Wanderlux SuperFoam midsole. This midsole gives the shoe a more athletic look, but also provides functional differences which we’ll discuss in the next section.
Comfort Level
TRUE linkswear’s new Adaptive Sport Knit Technology upper has a sock-like feel that forms nicely to your foot as you pull the laces tight. It’s also a waterproof material (rated at 100k in dynamic testing) that will keep your feet warm and dry in the elements. Though still a knit, the Adaptive Sport Knit is a little warmer than the TRUE Knit II, but that’s by design. The idea is that the LUX Sport will keep your feet dry and more comfortable in cooler conditions.
The addition of the Wanderlux Superfoam midsoles makes a massive difference in the LUX Sport’s overall comfort. This midsole provides a 6mm drop which gives the LUX a more familiar athletic feel. Wanderflux also creates a wanderful (I’m sorry!) bed of clouds for your feet. I can’t stress enough how comfortable the Wanderflux midsole is over long periods of time on your feet. The LUX Sport is easily one of the most comfortable wears in the TRUE linkswear lineup.
On-Course Performance
Most players have very subjective feelings in what good performance means for a golf shoe. For me, I like the shoe to be super comfortable, but I also need good traction and ground feedback. I think it’s pretty clear thus far that I found the TRUE linkswear LUX Sport to be extremely comfortable, so that checks that box. In terms of traction, I had plenty of stability in the LUX Sport and felt strongly connected to ground. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think TRUE linkswear has the best “parking lot to course” spikeless offering out there. Lastly, though the Wanderlux foam makes for a padded walk, you still get plenty of response from the ground so you feel well connected and balanced over any shot.
Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear LUX Sport
As the LUX Sport was nearing production, I was hearing a lot of bold claims and hype about this “new shoe” from TRUE linkswear. Their team was extremely excited about what their totally new design would have to offer. I thought to myself “I’m sure it will be good, but let’s just wait and see… I mean, there’s no way they beat the Knit or OG Feel.” Well, hats off to TRUE, the LUX Sport lived up to all of that hype and is a tremendous shoe. The LUX Sport is far and away the most versatile shoe TRUE linkswear has made to date. I have enjoyed wearing the LUX Sport since day 1 and it will continue to be a mainstay in my rotation both on and off the course.
