TRUE linkswear OG Sport Shoe Review

TRUE linkswear OG Sport Shoe

Enjoying the walk has been TRUE linkswear’s true mission ever since their inception. Though they may have felt the need to hit the reset button a few years ago, TRUE never lost sight of their goal to #EnjoyTheWalk and make golf shoes that don’t suck. Well, since hitting that reset button, TRUE has released incredible shoes based on some of their tried and true beloved classics, but they’ve also come up with exceptional new models. New for 2021 is the TRUE linkswear OG Sport – a versatile shoe designed to get the job done everywhere from the course to the gym.

The Looks

The TRUE linkswear OG Sport has a minimalist look to it that blends contemporary casual streetwear and athletic-inspired style. Whether walking 18, meeting friends at the bar, or getting a sweat on at the gym, the OG Sport doesn’t look out of place. So far, TRUE linkswear has released the OG Sport in the Deep Sea colorway pictured here as well as a tan-ish color they’re calling Cobblestone. These really are a great all-purpose shoe that goes with anything, and have become a new favorite “everyday wearer” for me.

Comfort Level

This is a good point to establish correct expectations for the TRUE linkswear OG Sport shoe. You see, TRUE burst onto the scene many years ago with their zero-drop designs and an almost “barefoot walking feel” to their shoes. It was a very natural walking experience that created a great connection to the ground (which is important in golf). The OG Sport has a very similar feel to it with its “barefoot experience”, thin sole, and high flexibility. If you’re looking for a “bed of clouds” on your feet, you’re looking at the wrong shoe. (You should check out the LUX Sport if that’s what you’re looking for.) These really have a free and natural feel to them.

TRUE’s new Adaptive Sport Knit Technology upper has a sock-like feel that forms nicely to your foot as you pull the laces tight. It’s also a waterproof material (rated at 100k in dynamic testing) that will keep your feet warm and dry in the elements. Though still a knit, the Adaptive Sport Knit is a little warmer than the TRUE Knit II, but that’s by design. The idea is that you can wear the OG Sport in cooler conditions and also keep your feet dry while staying comfortable.

On-Course Performance

From a golf perspective, TRUE linkswear OG Sport is for the player that likes to feel close to the ground with very precise feedback through their feet. Feel from the ground is very responsive and the thin flexible sole allows your foot to easily contour to any lie. Between the flexibility and the Cross-Life tread, there’s no problem with traction and keeping a good balance. Last but not least, the Adaptive Sport Knit keeps things dry in damp conditions be it morning dew or a steady rain.

Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear OG Sport Shoe

The TRUE linkswear OG Sport is a lightweight shoe designed for the walker that wants to feel like they’re barely wearing any shoes at all. Whether it’s walking your favorite 18 holes or cruising around doing your daily routine, the OG Sport’s natural feel makes you feel connected to the ground and in control of all your movements. With the new Adaptive Sport Knit Technology, you can bring that natural comfort to cooler and wetter environments than most knit shoes can handle. So if you’re looking to really #EnjoyTheWalk with a near “barefoot experience”, the OG Sport is an excellent option to consider.
