Fujikura Speeder NX Gold Shaft Review

Fujikura Speeder NX Gold Shaft

The Speeder line by Fujikura has a long-standing reputation in the golf industry for producing premium graphite wood shafts known for their responsive feel and consistent performance. Their latest generation, the Speeder NX Series, continues this tradition by leveraging proprietary enso motion capture data and advanced materials to craft more precise performance profiles. Designed for players seeking enhanced stability and a penetrating ball flight with a smooth feel, the Fujikura Speeder NX Gold delivers a mid-launch, mid/low-spin profile.

The Looks

Visually, the Fujikura Speeder NX Gold presents as a clean, high-end component. The finish starts with black at the handle section, which then transitions smoothly into a rich metallic gold that runs through the mid-section to the tip. This sophisticated color pattern is accented by the distinctive geometric NX graphics. Regarding branding, the primary Speeder logo and specs are visible in white on one side, while the other side features a simple white “NX” graphic on the black base a faint “Fujikura” shadow in the gold mid section.

How Does it Feel?

I’d describe the Fujikura Speeder NX Gold’s feel as smooth through, yet firm and powerful through impact. In my opinion, it reminds me a lot of the Speeder Evolution shafts…just a lot better. It delivers a highly connected sensation throughout the swing, giving the feeling of loading easily but holding up to a little more of an aggressive thanks to its stiffer mid section.

This responsive yet powerful feel is achieved through key technological refinements. Speeder NX shafts utilize Variable Torque Core (VTC) technology, which strategically manages the torsional rigidity based on location in the shaft. In short, the torque varies in different regions of the shafts based on golfers’ needs found through Fujikura’s enso analytics. Additionally, the new Dual-Helix Bias Technology (DHX) works to provide a smoother swing feel and encourage faster energy transfer. The end esult is a shaft that feels energetic when you load it, but incredibly stable through impact.

While the Fujikura Speeder NX Gold is advertised as a mid-launch, mid/low-spin shaft, I suppose it depends on the golfer. For me, it performed on the lower side for both launch and spin, but I quickly noticed that it wasn’t “unplayably” low. I was comfortably living in the low 11s for launch, which is definitely low for my “stock swing”, but not as low as I’d normally hit a “low launch” shaft. So it’s safe to say the “mid” characteristic makes the Speeder NX Gold more playable for me and gives me an option for a more piercing trajectory. My spin also stayed comfortably down, but by no means “basement” spin numbers. Low enough to control and roll, but still high enough to stay in the air.

The big difference for me in performance between with the Gold and the “softer” Speeder NX Violet was that I found the Violet a little easier to play as a mortal human. I had good numbers and dispersion with both, but I had a little more versatility with the Violet. The Gold enabled me to get after it a bit more and still keep the ball under control. Both present me strong value depending on which benefit my game needs more at any given. Lord knows it can change at any time!

If you know Fujikura well, I’d say the Speeder NX Gold performs similar to a Ventus TR Blue, but with a smoother bend profile. (Note: I said similar, not exactly the same.)

Final Thoughts – Fujikura Speeder NX Gold Shaft

The Fujikura Speeder NX Gold fits squarely into the brand’s tradition of delivering smooth-feeling shafts. It offers a stable, controlled profile that produces a penetrating ball flight without feeling harsh or boardy. The balance of mid launch, manageable spin, and precise feel makes it a strong option for players who want to keep the ball down while maintaining consistency. Long-time Fujikura Speeder fans will find this shaft to be familiar and like the return of an old friend. Though I’ve been happy with my Ventus Blue, the Speeder NX Gold will certainly get further attention from me leading up to the next golf season.
