Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker
The Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker provides great sound and portability designed to bring your favorite tunes to the golf course. It’s easy-to-mount design and easy setup make it one of the best portable golf speakers on the market today. Here at DRH, we are HUGE music fans, so we were really looking forward to getting to review this bad boy. Who doesn’t want to add some of their favorite tunes to a day full of golf, friends, and brews?
Features
For starters, the Ampcaddy Bluetooth speaker is extremely easy to setup. Out of the box, just hold down the power button, and presto, it’s on. Pairing was a breeze as well. Once the unit is powered on, just pull up bluetooth on your device, and it’s already discoverable. No hidden tips or tricks here. It’s the easiest setup I’ve ever had with any bluetooth speaker.
The Ampcaddy features two speakers with “Bass Booster,” and they provide an awesome sound. If I’m on the golf course, I don’t necessarily need the highest levels of sound, nor do I need so much bass that my cart rattles, but the Ampcaddy is just right.
For power, Ampcaddy uses a Lithium battery that charges in a quick hour or two, and easily lasted me through two rounds. The Ampcaddy connects to your phone or any wireless device through Bluetooth, and you can control both volume and track seeking right from the unit. As long as you have your playlist going, you can go ahead and keep the phone safely tucked in your bag. Lastly, the Ampcaddy is weatherproof so you don’t have to worry about not having music on those cold rainy days.
Design
The AmpCaddy Bluetooth Speaker comes in at about 7 inches long, 2 inches tall, and about 5 inches deep with the mount attached. The mount makes the dimensions larger than a typical speaker, but it’s well worth the added space to be able to mount this bad boy to your cart. Plus, you won’t have any issues fitting it in the side pocket of your golf bag, so it’s really a non-issue there.
As you can see above, the Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker is a rectangular-ish speaker that includes a clip to easily mount to your golf cart. The clip easily attaches to the side “rails” of any golf cart with a roof, or essentially to anywhere on a push cart. The clamp can also easily detach from the speaker in the event you want to throw it in a cup holder, rear basket, or any compartment in your cart or bag. Attaching the speaker is fairly idiot-proof, and is a simple knob that you turn to loosen or tighten the mount.
The mount features a 180º swivel, which allows you to point the speaker any direction of your liking. I found this to be one of the best parts of the design of the Ampcaddy, since you can face the speaker towards you in the cart so the music isn’t as loud while you or others are swinging.
On Course Performance
On the course is where the Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker really shined for me. First, let’s start with the sound. Since I’m on a golf course, I don’t need to be blaring musing and rattling the cart with bass. However, the Ampcaddy gives a perfect blend of sound volume, the right amount of bass, and a great sound quality that’s on par with any other Bluetooth speaker I’ve used.
The mount is probably my favorite feature of the whole device. The swivel let’s me position the speaker any which way across a horizontal plane. For me, I found the ideal positioning was on the side of my cart, facing inwards towards me. This way, I get immersed in sound while riding and can turn the volume up a bit, without being overly distracting/loud to either myself, or others, while hitting golf shots. It’s a very simple, yet genius design feature.
The controls are super easy to use. You adjust the volume by holding volume up or down buttons, and you can change to the next song directly from the speaker. This allows you to put that phone away, and just enjoy the day on the course.
The weatherproof and shockproof design makes the Ampcaddy fit for any round you can imagine. You don’t have to worry about the speaker getting wet on a rainy day, and it’s sturdy enough that if you drop it, it’s not going to take anything other than minor cosmetic damage. When going over bumps, curbs, or ditches (hey, we don’t judge your driving), the Ampcaddy isn’t going to skip a beat either, so you don’t have to worry about chopping up your tunes.
Final Thoughts
I was super excited to review the Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker on the course, and it definitely lived up to that excitement. The Ampcaddy is the best golf-specific Bluetooth speaker all around that I’ve used. As a guy who has about ten pairs of headphones and six other portable speakers, I feel like that holds a little weight. If you love music like we do, and want to bring your tunes to the links, you have to check out the Ampcaddy.
