ASICS Gel-Course Ace Shoe Review

ASICS Gel-Course Ace

ASICS have always been known to make some of the best running shoes on the market, and now, through a partnership with Srixon, have brought that comfort and performance to the golf course. Their latest, spikeless golf shoe, the ASICS Gel-Course Ace tried to live up to their reputation, but out on the golf course.

The Looks

If you like the look of running shoes, you’ll like the casual look fo the ASICS Gel-Course Ace. If you’re more of a golf traditionalist, it may not be your speed. To each their own. The new Gel-Course Ace features the iconic ASICS lining on the sides of the shoe, with a design synonymous with ASICS running shoes. Breathable, mesh materials, ankle cushion, and a foam sole. In all honesty, it looks like a standard running shoe that fits on or off of the course.

Comfort Level

ASICS running shoes are comfortable. ASICS golf shoes are ALSO comfortable. Just as you’d expect from the shoe giant, the Gel-Course Ace brings that ASICS level comfort to the golf course. The shoe fits pretty standard to sizing and width, and provides support around both your feet and ankles without suffocating them. The Gel-Course Ace’s comfort is second to none, and by incorporating ASICS GEL and Flytefoam technologies, they might be the most comfortable golf kicks on the market. And while the shoe is extremely breathable and comfortable, it’s still supportive, giving you the confidence that they’ll protect your feet and ankles on the course.

On-Course Performance

Now that we’ve gotten through the fluffy stuff, how do the ASICS Gel-Course Ace actually perform on the golf course? Let’s start with traction. Traction is huge during the golf swing, and for a spikeless shoe, the Gel-Course Ace has plenty of it. I found my feet to move in some positions and conditions more than I’d prefer during a swing, but I was not completely sliding out by any means. Keep in mind, I generally a spike player and prefer that added traction. However, as far as spikeless go, the Gel-Course Ace hold their ground against any other spikeless shoe I’ve worn.

The ASICS Gel-Course Ace is fully waterproof. A waterproof lining protects your feet from the elements, and are the only full-waterproof option of the current ASICS golf lineup. Unlike other, fully waterproof shoes, however, the Gel-Course Ace still maintains both flexibility and comfort, which is a huge plus. Regardless of your conditions, your feet will still feel fresh after 18 (or heck, 36) in these bad boys. When I say they’re some of the most comfortable golf shoes you’ll ever put on, I’m not lying. Your dogs won’t be swollen and barking at the 19th hole, but rather, ready for another round. And after the 19th hole, you don’t even have to change your shoes!
