BIG MAX Aqua UV Umbrella – Possibly the Best Umbrella in Golf

Are Any Umbrellas That Great?

I’ve historically always sort of found umbrellas to be either a severely overrated or underrated piece of equipment.  At the end of the day, you just need enough coverage to block the rain.  How serious do we need to take it?  It’s just an umbrella.  On the other hand, a bad umbrella can be the worst, we’ve all been there.  You think just any old umbrella will do, get caught in some wind and rain, and next thing you know you’re either soaking wet or holding a busted umbrella.  Or both!  Maybe you should have taken it more serious.  This is what I thought until I got my hands on a BIG MAX Aqua UV umbrella and changed my whole perspective.

The BIG MAX Aqua UV Umbrella

First and foremost, the construction of the BIG MAX Aqua UV umbrella is extremely solid.  The shaft, or pole (whichever you prefer, both are technically correct), of the umbrella is made of a strong carbon fiber material (or it’s wrapped around metal, I don’t know, but it looks sweet) that makes the umbrella sturdy and easy to control in poor conditions.  The stronger pole is especially helpful in winds as the 52″ two-part canopy may catch in the breeze a bit.  With a crappy umbrella pole, good luck hanging onto it in a heavy wind.

Another major umbrella issue is when the wind blows it inside out.  Between the sturdy rib construction and canopy, I have yet to ever have the Aqua UV umbrella even THINK about flipping on me.  Not only is umbrella flip a major inconvenience in bad weather, but it can also completely break your expensive golf umbrella.  Speaking of price, the BIG MAX Aqua UV umbrella is fairly moderately priced at $40.

Deployment Button 11

Let’s not forget about the deployment system of the Aqua UV.  A simple push of a single button automatically sends the runner of the umbrella up the pole and locks the umbrella into place.  To close the umbrella, just pull the runner down and lock it back into the handle.  I can’t stress enough how sturdy the whole mechanism is, yet very easy to use and deploy your umbrella quickly.

Aqua UV Canopy 5

Of course, we have to discuss the heavy-duty waterproof canopy that keeps you dry.  As mentioned earlier, the canopy is 52 inches wide which is more than enough coverage.  While the size can be a little much in the rat race of my daily commute in downtown Chicago, it still keeps me plenty dry as long as the rain isn’t whipping sideways.  For those ultra sunny days where you need some covered, the Aqua UV canopy has a UV protection of 50+.  A great parasol to provide you some shade!

Final Thoughts 1

Final Thoughts -BIG MAX Aqua UV Umbrella

When I got my first BIG MAX Aqua UV umbrella, I merely thought “oh that’s nice, a new umbrella” but I didn’t give it much more thought from there.  Then I used it one single time and said “wow, this thing is amazing.”  I never realized how impressed I could be with something as a silly umbrella.  Put it this way, you will notice three umbrellas pictured here.  I had one for my commuting, and got two more so my wife could have one, and one to stay in the golf bag. Also, would you ever imagine someone would 580+ words about an umbrella?!  It must be good.

Is the BIG MAX Aqua UV the best umbrella in golf?  Yes, and maybe in life altogether.
