Bridgestone 2022 Tour B RX Golf Ball
The Bridgestone 2022 Tour B RX is aimed at players with a swing speed under 105 miles per hour who seek a boost in distance, all while having superior control. With the help of the Tour B RX’s REACTIV iQ “smart” urethane cover and Dual Dimple technology, the RX delivers just that. The Tour B RX has rightfully earned a spot in my bag as a mid handicapper looking to take my game off the tee to the next level.
How Does it Feel
The Bridgestone Tour B RX checks all the boxes for me in the feel department. Thanks to the REACTIV iQ cover, the Tour B RX feels firm and explosive of off the tee jumping at impact. On delicate shots around the green, the RX compresses nicely for a soft and pure feel. The cover is extremely dynamic and changes depending on the shot and swing speed you exert on it. At the higher end with a driver, the RX maintains its firm nature, while with short irons, wedges and the putter, the RX is buttery smooth.
Off the Tee
Off the tee is where the 2022 Tour B RX really comes into its own. Simply put, the RX is built for distance and control. The combination of the Bridgestone’s REATIV iQ cover and Gradational Core adds distance and forgiveness as well as a higher initial ball speed and lower side spin, ultimately helping you hit and hold more fairways in regulation. What’s not to like?
But let’s be honest, a ball can only do so much for a swing like mine. On squared shots with the driver, 3 wood and even some of my long irons, I was seeing a few extra yards. Dual Dimple technology may be to thank here. This technology produces a more effective trajectory and reduces drag through more efficient aerodynamics. I can say without a doubt I was able to control the ball with a smooth swing. And like I said, I saw a few more yards in the process.
My game has been in need of more distance off the tee for awhile now, which has led to me trying out several other distance balls from the other big brands you’ve seen. I can confidently say with the 2022 Tour B RX I’ve seen the most benefits out of any ball I’ve played off the tee.
On the Approach
Given the fact the Bridgestone Tour B RX is a distance focused ball, it would make sense that there would be some lack in performance in approach shots. However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Despite feeling firm off the tee, the dynamic feel and control provided by the REATIV iQ cover made shots into the green feel soft and smooth, and I found the ball to hit and sit surprisingly well. I even had several of my playing partners from two recent rounds comment on the improvement in my approach game. If that doesn’t say enough about the Tour B RX I don’t know what does, because trust me, it’s not my own doing!
Around the Green
Once again, the Bridgestone Tour B RX impressed on and around the green. With the putter I found the RX to be a nice combination of soft but firm enough to feel confident in long lag puts. When it came to chips and shots around the green the REACTIV iQ cover helped increase the time the club and ball were in contact, therefore increasing spin and stopping power. I was really happy with the touch I was able to get with the RX given its “off the tee” focus. However, for players looking for even more control and spin, the Tour B RXS could be for you, which has an incredible amount of spin around the green that really was impressive.
Final Thoughts – 2020 Bridgestone Tour B RX
If your game is in need of premium performance off the tee, and you have a more moderate swing speed, I would definitely recommend trying the Bridgestone 2022 Tour B RX. The Tour B RX delivers tour-level quality for those of us who aren’t swinging it like Bryson, who actually helped develop the RX’s “bigger brother”, the Tour B X built for those swinging over 105 MPH. I digress, the RX’s combination of REATIV iQ cover, Gradational Core and Dual Dimple Technology make it one of the longest and most accurate balls I’ve personally tested, all while still having ample spin and softness to go pin hunting during your next round. All in all, the Tour B RX is an extremely versatile ball that could really improve your game! To find the ball that best fits your game, try Bridgestones Vfit here.
I’ve been playing B RX tour for years and I’m very happy with the results I get. I’m 70 now and might move to the S but let’s see how it goes this summer.
I’ve been playing Bridgestone golf balls since 1978 various version from Rextar, Precept up to the current balls
Never had any problems with them. Great quality like all Bridgestone products
Nice article. Nice to see an article where the author knows how to use spellcheck! I use the Bridgestone E12 and have been a Taylormade ball guy for years now. But the e12, which I recently purchased a dozen feel really good off the tee and around the green. I’ll try the Tour B RX and see which I prefer. Never imagined leaving TM for Bridgestone but Bridgestone has for me, really started making some very innovative balls.
Hahaha, am I missing something with the spellcheck reference? I’m sure our posts have plenty of writing errors littered throughout ?
