Clicgear 4.0 Push Cart
Clicgear push carts have always been highly regarded for their durability and great all-around performance. The new Clicgear 4.0 push cart is their latest 3-wheel model offering generous storage, strong performance, easy setup, and a compact folded profile.
Setup
Like any push cart that folds up fairly compact, the Clicgear 4.0 takes a little getting used to at first. Let’s be honest, this should be expected with any push cart. Once you get familiar with the steps, setup is pretty easy. All of the important levers, latches, and buttons standout as they’re grey in color and contrast from the rest of the cart. I find this draws my attention straight to them and their functions are fairly intuitive. If not intuitive enough, the most “complicated” portion, whether unfolding or folding up, is clearly labeled “push” and “pull”. After “activating” all of these points, the cart unfolds and locks in quickly.
I’ll include strapping the bag in and getting rolling on the course as part of “setup”. Both saddles (upper and lower) on the 4.0 are updated from Clicgear’s previous 3.5+ model. They include new silicone straps that ratchet into each other so you always get a snug fit. I found these silicon straps to be much easier to use and more secure.
The bottom saddle has slight adjustability for a comfortable fit with a wide range of golf bags. However, the Clicgear 4.0’s upper saddle’s adjustability is the real standout. In order to achieve the perfect fit with practically any bag, the upper saddle can be set lower or higher. A simple flip of the lever and the saddle can slide into the perfect place for your bag of choice. Right next to that lever is the wheel to adjust the handle bars so you can get them into the most comfortable position for your walk.
Built-In Storage
The Clicgear 4.0 push cart’s built-in storage is fairly significant without being bulky. There’s a large console that has three integrated golf ball holders inside, but of course you can fit a few more sleeves in the rest of the compartment if necessary. I tend to use this space for my keys, ear buds, Nutri-Grain bars, and whatever random thing I don’t want in my pockets but I want/need quick access to. The silicon strap across the top of the console holds your scorecard and there are three holes to hold most tees on the exterior.
Built into the console are four accessory mounts and an umbrella bracket (standard cup holder and umbrella mount included). These can be used to attach assorted Clicgear accessories such as a club brush or ball clip. Hanging underneath the console and handle bars is the integrated storage net. It doesn’t look all that large in pictures, but it holds much more than you’d expect. This is where I usually throw my giant Tempercraft water bottle and have plenty of room to spare.
Of course, if you have more needs than the 4.0’s built-in storage, there are additional options. Clicgear offers attachable nets and coolers to accommodate any extra storage requirements.
On-Course Performance
There’s definitely a subjective element to good push cart “performance”, but there are also some very definitive things that have to be good. First and foremost, the push cart needs to be easy to push with your golf bag on it. The Clicgear 4.0 has the perfect wheelbase and balance so it is easy to maneuver and control. It’s wide enough to be plenty stable, but the three-wheel configuration is nimble and smooth. Combine that with the versatile handle bar setup and the 4.0 is incredibly easy to manage through the ups and downs of a dynamic golf course.
All of the parts and components that make up the Clicgear 4.0 push cart are heavy duty and solid. Absolutely nothing on it feels like a cheap shortcut. While I can’t speak directly to the Clicgear 4.0’s durability as I haven’t had it long enough yet, it’s built off of the foundation of the 3.5/3.5+. I used the 3.5+ pretty heavily for just over four years and it more than held up. The overall weight of the 4.0’s frame is right around 21 pounds so there is a little weight to it, but it’s also going to last you for many years. And like I said just above, this cart is easy to maneuver, and doesn’t come across the least bit heavy on the course.
Final Thoughts – Clicgear 4.0 Push Cart
When it comes to push carts, Clicgear is notoriously regarded as one of the best for good reasons. Their push carts perform well, are reliable, and are easy to use. The Clicgear 4.0 push cart is no exception and I would argue it’s their best push cart to date. The new straps and saddles are a great upgrade and the overall functionality is exactly what I expect from a Clicgear cart. If you’re looking to make a long-term investment in a solid push cart that does it all, the Clicgear 4.0 certainly fits the bill.
While always a popular option, the 4.0 push cart was especially difficult to come by over the pandemic, but they’re back in stock and available on Clicgear’s website here.
