Clicgear 4.5 Push Cart
Clicgear has long been the gold standard for golfers who prefer to walk, and for good reason. These carts have a reputation for surviving countless seasons of regular use while maintaining the same structural integrity they had on day one. The new Clicgear 4.5 stays true to that legacy, focusing on a refined “Command Center” and smarter storage solutions. This includes a new adjustable cup holder that may seem like a minor feature, but has proven to be an incredible upgrade. It features a series of smart, practical updates that do not mess with the rock-solid performance that has made the Clicgear a staple on the fairways.
Setting Up the Clicgear 4.5 Push Cart
If you are new to Clicgear, the unfolding process might feel a bit like solving a puzzle at first, but the learning curve is short. Once you understand the sequence, getting it to the first tee is intuitive and quick. The key “setup mechanisms” are easy to identify, which pretty naturally gets the cart unfolding and upright. There are even written instructions to guide you right on the key levers and handles of the cart. Once everything is unfolded and locked into place, all that’s left to do is to push the button on the front wheel and fold it into place.
The silicone strap system, carried over from the 4.0, is a massive improvement over traditional bungee cords. These straps provide a secure fit that stays put over the nastiest bumps and, more importantly, they don’t stretch out over time. Since bag geometry varies so much from brand to brand, the adjustable upper saddle is a clutch feature that lets you find the exact “sweet spot” for a centered fit. You can easily set the exact height that your bag needs for a proper fit. This is especially advantageous if a junior player with a smaller bag borrows your cart, as it ensures their bag still securely fits on the stand.
Built-In Clicgear 4.5 Storage
The storage on the Clicgear 4.5 has seen some of the most practical updates for their flagship push cart. The console (often called the “Command Center”) is where most of the changes live. Inside, you will find the standard three-ball holder, but the console now features a dedicated slot for a phone or GPS device. It includes a sound-amplifying design and a notch for a charging cable so you can keep your battery topped off throughout the round. Speaking of a charging cable…
Underneath the handle, the mesh storage net remains, but is now paired with an additional zippered storage bag. It is deceptively large and easily holds an oversized water bottle, a light jacket, and/or a power brick. There’s a port (visible in the picture above) for your charging cable to run from the storage bag to your device in the phone slot. Credit to Clicgear, this is a really slick touch.
One of my favorite additions is the new set of integrated storage pads on the sides of the console. These allow you to quickly secure a magnetic rangefinder on one side and a glove via the Velcro pad on the other side. As mentioned in the intro, the redesigned adjustable cup holder is an unsung hero. It’s much more versatile and easily secures everything from a slim 12oz can to a wide 32oz bottle. Small, thoughtful tweaks make the Clicgear 4.5 push cart feel much more efficient and really enhance the experience on the course.
On-Course Performance
Performance is where Clicgear has always excelled, and the 4.5 is no different. The aircraft-grade aluminum frame provides a sturdy, stable base that doesn’t flex or creak when traversing uneven terrain. It’s wide enough to feel incredibly stable on side-hill lies, yet the three-wheel geometry keeps it nimble enough to weave through the trees where I spend plenty of my time these days.
The 4.5 also features an updated braking system with an internally routed cable. Don’t overlook how nice of a benefit this is, trust me. This prevents the cable from snagging on brush or fraying over time, adding to the long-term durability of the build. At roughly 21 pounds, the 4.5 has enough weight to feel high-quality without being a burden to push uphill. The wide-track wheels and high-quality bearings make the cart glide around the course, and the adjustable handle height ensures a comfortable walk for golfers of any stature.
Like the models before it, the Clicgear 4.5 folds down into a fairly compact “box” footprint. I find it to comfortably fit into a moderately crowded trunk. (By crowded, I mean a typical golf nerd’s trunkful of golf wares. This tends to include no less than a bag of clubs, a few boxes of balls, multiple hats, and numerous pairs of golf shoes.)
Final Thoughts – Clicgear 4.5 Push Cart
If you want a push cart that is engineered for the long haul, Clicgear remains the benchmark. At least, that is this “garage full of push carts” golfer’s opinion. The Clicgear 4.5 model is a thoughtful evolution of their three-wheel platform, offering a an improved experience through upgraded storage and refined construction. It’s a reliable companion for the walking golfer who values a cart that will not just survive a few seasons, but likely outlast the bag you put on it.
