DragonSkin 360 Golf Grip Review

DragonSkin 360 Golf Grip

The DragonSkin 360 is a golf grip designed to provide golfers with a strong, comfortable hold and improved feel. It’s made from a tacky TPE material that offers exceptional slip resistance in all weather conditions. These grips also feature a proprietary CAD scale pattern design for increased traction at impact.

The Looks

The DragonSkin 360 is currently available in black and blue. The grip features a unique, scale-like texture for exceptional grip. If you look closely, you’ll notice variations in the etching that wraps around the grip. Additionally, the red or green butt cap indicates the grip firmness: red for “firm” and green for “soft.”

Since it’s designed for 360-degree use, there’s no extra branding on the grip itself. This is a benefit as there’s no visual change when adjusting hosel settings on your woods, etc.

How Does it Feel?

I’ve been very impressed with the feel of DragonSkin’s grips. The TPE material is soft and tacky, but not overly sticky. Both the firm and soft options offer good cushioning, which can help reduce hand fatigue during long rounds. While designated as “firm,” the firm grip isn’t harsh. The soft grip is definitely more plush, but not overly “squishy.”

I also want to note that although the standard DragonSkin 360 isn’t a large profile, but it has a “fuller” body. Basically, I just mean this as you shouldn’t expect it to feel like a cheap, super thin, low profile rubber grip.

On-Course Performance

If I had to choose, I definitely prefer the DragonSkin 360 grip over the original model I previously reviewed here. While the original model has better overall grip and traction, I like the general feel and texture of the 360 better. In my hands, I felt a more consistent and precise feel. With the original model, I felt too much of the grip’s tread pattern. The 360 gave me a better sense of the entire golf club and was more consistent, regardless of how/where I gripped it.

It’s difficult to say if I can notice the extra level of grip from the unique CAD pattern. DragonSkin claims the scales in the grip are designed for increased “bite” due to “centripetal force” at impact. While I can’t personally confirm this sensation, I found my grip to be very strong in various conditions and at full force. I never experienced any issues holding onto the club.

Regarding firmness, I also preferred the firm (red cap) 360 grip. I felt like I had more control and stability with the club. This likely comes down to personal preference, but I wanted to make note of it. I play with a very firm grip, so it makes sense that I quickly adapted to the firm offering.

  1. I tried one of the red ones when it was released and really liked it. I agree with everything Bill wrote here — it wasn’t like a midsize grip, but it did feel larger than something like a standard Tour Velvet 360. Maybe the equivalent of like +2 wraps overall, and slightly less taper? Even the red one was slightly squishy. Definitely tacky and the pattern is every bit as grippy as a corded grip, particularly when my hand was wet.

It’s no longer on my club because I’m obsessive-compulsive about grips and have to have the same one (I go with Lamkin UTX standard gray + 2 wraps) on all 13 swing clubs — it was just one I bought to test out of curiosity. But, if I was regripping everything, this would be one I’d consider for sure.
