It’s no mystery that the United Kingdom has been a music POWERHOUSE for decades. There have been a few names to come out of there like this little band the Beatles. Then there was this band called the Rolling Stones that did alright for themselves. Among many others, there were the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Oasis, etc. Ever heard of ’em? England is so powerful at breaking killer music into the world that you’ll find great American performers broke in England first before the world over. Great examples of this are this guy Jimi Hendrix, Kings of Leon, and The Killers. Man, Northern England alone was just a machine with the likes of Oasis, The Smiths, New Order, Stone Roses, The Smiths and The 1975 all out of Manchester-ish. Then the Beatles out of Liverpool… Speaking of Liverpool, I finally get to the point of this blog – The Wombats.
The Wombats are a pop/alternative rock band out of Liverpool that popped onto the scene in 2003. These lads would go on to really start taking off about five years later and haven’t looked back since. I enjoy everything about these guys from their humorous, yet insightful, lyrics and their melodic mix of synths and guitars. While I like to listen to a wide range of music, I typically end up with the Wombats in my headphones in a relatively short period of time.
If there’s one thing you can expect from these guys, it’s super weird videos bordering on graphic and odd, but entertaining. Maybe don’t watch them with small children? Anyway, here are a bunch of my favorites:
