ECCO BIOM Tour Golf Shoe Review

ECCO BIOM Tour Golf Shoe

The ECCO BIOM Tour golf shoes are a high-end golf shoe that are designed to provide maximum comfort and performance. They feature ECCO’s proprietary BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology, which is based on the natural movement of the human foot. This technology helps to create a more stable and comfortable fit, while also providing excellent traction on any lie.

The Looks

I regularly state on DRH that ECCO has a very distinct style that’s pretty unique to their brand. The way I would describe it is a “casual and athletic sneaker meeting a traditional golf shoe with a clear European influence”. The upper is made of premium leather and synthetic materials geared toward comfort and durability. If the black/grey colorway featured here isn’t your taste, ECCO also offers the BIOM Tour in a clean all white version.

Comfort Level

As soon as I pulled the ECCO BIOM Tour golf shoes out of the box, I immediately noticed their weight. Or lack thereof… I audibly commented to no one, “WOW, these are super light!” Following my testing, I can’t believe a shoe with this level of stability can actually be this lightweight. I suppose time will tell if the durability is as equally impressive for such a lightweight shoe. Regardless, the BIOM Tour is an exceptionally lightweight shoe that’s an easy wear over long periods of time.

ECCO has always done a great job of making a plush shoe that’s really easy on the foot. Somehow, they also find a way to blend that “plushness” with a firm rigidity for the right support exactly where you need it. The footbed is made from ECCO’s OrthoLite Performance Foam, which provides excellent cushioning and support. Note, removing the insoles will give you extra width in the shoes should you need it. Additionally, the BIOM Natural Motion technology makes walking feel…natural. It’s right there in the name! While walking and swinging the club, this “natural” feel makes for a much more enjoyable experience throughout the day.

The BIOM Tour also features a breathable mesh lining that helps to keep your feet cool and dry. Additionally, the BIOM Tour has a snug fit without feeling like your foot is being squeezed. This helps provide better balance and control during your golf swing.

On-Course Performance

I’m not sure the last time I had better traction with a golf shoe than I got with the ECCO BIOM Tours. Admittedly, the BIOM Tour has an extremely aggressive “traction system” courtesy of the Pivix spikes and the additional “grooves” in the outsole. Spikeless shoe fans…these probably aren’t for you, BUT, if you want a zero-slip grip on the ground with any stance, the BIOM Tour is tough to beat.

The BIOM Tour sits lower to the ground which will help with your balance and stability. They also have a little more of a forward lean to them which is designed to promote a more powerful swing, or “forward momentum” as ECCO says. What I can tell you is that I felt like the BIOM Tour encourages your weight to be on the balls of your feet rather than back on your heels. If you’re worrying they might be too “high heeled”, I wouldn’t say that’s the case. The BIOM Tour construction very much allows for a strong athletic stance to make a balanced and powerful golf swing.

Final Thoughts – ECCO BIOM Tour Golf Shoe

ECCO has been making premium golf shoes for a really long time so expectations should be high. The BIOM Tour really does do everything well on the golf course as one should expect from ECCO. They’re super comfortable, incredibly stable, and have some of the best traction you’ll find in a golf shoe. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but with the premium materials and performance, the BIOM Tour is certainly a reasonable investment. Assuming they prove to be durable, I’ll upgrade that statement to an exceptional investment. The ECCO BIOM Tour is truly an excellent golf shoe that’s comfortable and an elite performer.

  1. I’ve had a version of these shoes and they’re next level comfortable. I play about 90 rounds a year so, I have a body of work.
My chief gripe is their durability. Mine lasted about half a season and then leaked. I didn’t have a receipt so, I could return them.
I guess you can’t have everything.
